1379
GOAT [Prologue]
On Oerth, at the Snowy’s Alehouse franchise location in the City of Greyhawk, one of the owners - Stormi - was mourning her father when Fritz Swift arrived asking questions about Me’Urra Thoron and Ehlonna’s Avengers. Stormi knew the tales of the famous adventurers and bonded with Fritz. They got drunk, fell in love, and decided to continue the tradition of Snowy’s secret society the Keepers of Arcanum (KOA) and recruit friends back on the world Fritz came from, Toril. After months together, they got engaged and married. Stormi ended up pregnant (with Fritz II).

They gathered the children of the Ravenguard Adventurers (childhood friends of Fitz: Lanseril, Retha, Brodo II, and Kade) and told them about their plan. Brodo II insisted they change the name from KOA to Guardians of Arcane Treasure (GOAT), which was also a play on “greatest of all time.” Stormi stayed in the City of Greyhawk to run their safe house and raise her child while the others went off to find powerful magic items…

GOAT [Wilderlands of High Fantasy & Dwimmermount Level 1]
Fritz, Lanseril, Retha, Brodo, and Kade paid for passage to the continent across the world known as “the wilderlands,” where they ended up in the mining village of Daican, in the region of Veridistan. The innkeeper Bo suggested that the team turn around because the dangers in the nearby mountains would surely kill them - and if they didn’t, then there were plenty of other monsters out there. The team decided to test their luck, but got lost. A group of orc raiders ambushed the team, killing Kade before the group was able to defeat them.

A rival adventuring party (the Five Delvers) helped them get to the fortified town of Muntburg; Brodo II got drunk with Asceline of the Five Delvers and she told him about the supposed lost treasures in the nearby Dwimmermount dungeon; they also started sleeping together at the Green Dragon Inn. Fritz decided to hire a lone wizard named Climent to assist in their adventures, unaware that the wizard was a spy working for evil forces in the dungeon. Climent helped convince the Five Delvers (Asceline the human thief, Fortin the human fighter, Rique the human cleric, and Lorenz the human fighter) to join forces with GOAT.

The traveling thief Gaztea tried to rob the group and Climent killed her for it; she had some good gear on her. The team went to start clearing out the first level of the megadungeon; they killed orcs, a wight, and some eldritch bones; Fortin and Lorenz died in battle, but the group found some nice magic items and a secret vault of treasure. They also recovered a map to some hidden cultic treasure in the nearby woods. With sounds of a kobold army in the corridors, they felt unsafe and returned to the town to recuperate.

GOAT [Dwimmermount & Wrath of the Minotaur]
Fritz led the team following the map to the south (about 30 miles) to try to find the cultic treasure in the Aldleigh Forest. Halfway there, the team stopped in the village of Smerdlap’s Crossing for the night. The team met Mitchifer the human cleric and his adventuring party (with an elf fighter-wizard, a dwarf fighter, and a human paladin).

The team fought and killed giant rats, skeletons, ghouls, and zombies before finding the lost tomb of Alaxus. There, they killed: minotaur skeletons, kobolds, weasels, minotaur zombies, and Alaxus the minotaur necromancer; Rique perished in battle, but the team got the treasure.

GOAT [Eye of the Wyvern]
Before returning to Dwimmermount, the team was killing more rats and undead in the woods when they found themselves attacked by Mitchifier’s team (joined by 2 more human fighters, a halfling rogue, and a human wizard); outnumbered 8 to 6, Clemint died but the party survived by making the last 2 attackers (Mitchifier and the elf Sunblayze) surrender (after killing the others). They cured  them of the evil mind control they were under and let them join the party. They brought the party to a valley, where they fought off wyverns and helped some farmers defend against a clan of goblins that were stealing from them.

GOAT [Sword of Air: Tower of Bells]
Still on the way back to Dwimmermount, the team accepted a quest to clear out a tower that was full of monsters. Lanseril the druid was able to subdue a brown bear. The team then killed: a gelatinous cube, a clan of kobolds, a black pudding, and a medusa; Mitchifer was petrified and the team had to leave him behind.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Level 2]
When GOAT returned to Muntburg to continue their quest to clear out Dwimmermount, Asceline realized she was pregnant with Brodo’s child and decided to stay in town to oversee the construction of a GOAT Guildhall. Fritz, Lanseril, Retha, Brodo II, and Sunblayze ventured into the dungeon. On level 1, they killed: the kobold clan, some crab spiders, some shriekers, fiendish spiders, yellow mold, giant rats, orcs, and fire beetles; they rescued Balfar the dwarf, resident of Muntburg, who helped them clear out the rest of the orcs before returning home.
After some down time, the team returned to clear out the 2nd level of Dwimmermount. They killed: lots of orcs, lots of gnolls, an animated crystal statue, shadows, green slime, sapient rats, spitting beetles, ghouls, giant rats, archer bushes, the evil wizard Varazes; the team rescued 2 humans in stasis for the last 200 years: Colluthus and Arethusa. They also found a magic resurrection pool and a map to a dwarven treasure vault in the mountains.
With more of the 2nd level left, the team ventured back down into the megadungeon and continued. They killed: hobgoblins, shadows, eldritch bones, gargoyles, zombies, wood golems, 2 wights, thoghrins, hell hounds, giant centipedes, a wight, and a gray ooze; they found a map of a long lost monastery reputed to have the relics of Saint Gaxyg the Gray.

GOAT [The Dark Tower]
Following their treasure maps, the team left the area for a while. They got lost in the wilderness and met up with a traveling caravan that seemed to mysteriously lose some of its people and supplies over time. They ended up in the “Desert Lands” ruled over by “The Invincible Overlord.” The sorcerer Grank Bogwalker was happy to meet up with them at the village of Mitra’s Fist; Grank said his brother and the cleric they were with had disappeared, possibly having died on the way here. He was investigating the evil cult of Set (snake worshippers) and asked the team to help him clear out an evil tower. Fritz welcomed him to the team.

GOAT teamed up with the Lions of Mitra (good paladins and warriors) and cleared out the temple of Set’s monsters: a team of brigands, ghouls, skeletons, trolls, wererats, dire rats, kobolds, giant lizards, a basilisk, an animated statue, minions of set, evil clerics, skeletons, zombies, carrion crawlers, black pudding, a goblin army, orcs, jackals, hill giants, evil wizards, shadow monsters, stone golems, dire apes, rust monsters, ghouls, ghasts, a mind-controlled elf, mummies, wraiths, spirit nagas, a vrock demon, succubus, and a fire giant; Lanseril died, but the team rescued a party of dervish adventurers, 3 halfling brothers, Mordred the human druid, and an adult bronze dragon named Murkaganth (who died helping the team defeat Argun the red dragon).

In the final push to cleanse the Dark Tower of evil, the team also had to kill: giant snakes, more minions of Set, a storm giant, mummies, a stone golem, an army of skeletons, a medusa, yuan-ti malisons, and an evil cleric-lich; Fritz was petrified and the entire tower crumpled in on itself so he was lost to the team. The others split the treasure with the Lions of Mitra before heading home to Munburg (where Brodo III had been born and the guildhall was fully built/furnished).

GOAT [Dwimmermount Level 3]
Retha took over leadership of GOAT, with Brodo II, Sunblayze, Grank, and the 3 halfling brothers they rescued making up the adventuring team; Asceline decided to stay on as the manager of the guildhall while the others went to clear out more of Dwimmermount.

During their first trek to level 3 of the megadungeon the team discovered evil red elves (fire genasi) called the Eld and had to kill them (along with their bugbear guards, giant beetles, and dretches); the 3 halfling brothers died in combat. GOAT found a healing tree of obsidian bark that grew pears that acted as greater healing potions. They also found portals to the “green planet” Kythirea and the “red planet” Areon.

The team made a second attempt at clearing out level 3 and succeeded, killing: throghrins, giant ticks, eldritch bones, doppelgangers, stone statues, shadows, giant ticks, ranines, and wererats. They also discovered that the rival adventuring party “The Crimson Band” had battled and killed the party known as “Typhon’s Fists” and become paranoid, challenging GOAT; the team had to kill them.

Taking notice of the other rival adventuring group that had arrived in Muntburg (the “Heralds of the Silver Dawn”), the team decided to hire them to go find the lost dwarf treasure in the mountains and gave them the map.

GOAT [Thieves of Fortress Badabaskor]
Retha, Grank, Brodo II, and Sunblayze needed a break from the megadungeon so they went in search of the lost monastery of Gaxyg. At the destination that the map took them to, they found that Fortress Badabaskor had been built and housed rival bandit gangs. They stayed at the Iron Stallion Inn, run by Maktash the gnome, while looking for clues to the location of the long lost treasure.

The team spoke to some gnomes living in the cliff basement and killed a troop of orcs and some wererats for them. They tried to steal from the bandit leader Cragen, but his treasury was trapped; an amulet of strangulation killed Grank and the bandits killed Brodo II and Sunblayze. Only Retha escaped, but she ended up hiding at Biffor’s Place of Heavenly Delights; the owner was an evil wizard who drugged her and sold her into slavery.

Madam Delrita of the Seven Winds House bought Retha as a pleasure slave. Retha was able to seduce Captain Branger and convince him to betray Cragen; Branger purchased her from Delrita and together they defeated Cragen. Branger assumed command of the fortress and Retha was soon pregnant with his child; she didn’t want to have a child in this evil place so she stole a hippogriff and managed to escape with some valuables.
Afraid Branger would eventually find out where she was, Retha hired the team of dervishes that GOAT had rescued from the Set temple to go finish clearing out the Fortress of Badabaskor; Ishpemo the fighter, Mrdod the fighter, Onoch the fighter, Haltashaar the fighter, Virdonitii the monk, Vashalla the cleric, and Moram the paladin accepted the mission. They were able to defeat Branger, his bandit forces, more orcs, hell hounds, giant snakes, trolls, and wights. They freed the slave women and realized the caverns went deeper into the ground. When they continued, they took out some gargoyles and convinced the medusa sisters (Lyndora and Cincy) serving a family of 4 red dragons to betray and petrify their masters.

Lyndora fell in love with and seduced Moram as they continued the adventure. The team killed: trolls, more gargoyles, evil priests, human warriors, wererats, intellect devourers, skeleton, gray ooze, dopplegangers, an invisible stalker, evil druids, ghasts, spectres, mummies, wraiths, wights, evil wizards, shadows, rakshasas, a red dragon, a blue dragon, and glabrezu demons; only Moram and Lyndora survived. They put the treasure in bags of holding and brought it to Retha (with more hippogriffs that they took), to split with her (including a book called “The Chronicles of Former Treasures and Lost Empires of the Wilderlands”). She convinced them to join GOAT and live in the guildhall in Muntburg.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Level 4]
Soon Lyndora was pregnant. The team took time off until the children were born. Retha named her quarter-drow daughter Brana and Lyndora named her earth genasi son Moram II. When the Heralds of the Silver Dawn returned from their paid mission, Retha decided to continue employing them, including having the wizards identify all of the loot from Badabaskor, which turned out to include a ring of 3 wishes.

While deciding what to do with the wishes, the team was attacked by the “Free Swords,” a mercenary band that had heard tales of their treasure; the only survivors were Retha, Moram, Pariset the human fighter (of the Heralds of the Silver Dawn), and Adaina the elf fighter-wizard (of the Free Swords, who surrendered and pledged her loyalty to GOAT in exchange for her life). Asceline decided it was too dangerous to stay in Muntburg and used the ring of wishes to take the children (and the extra valuables) to go to the City of Greyhawk to live with Stormi.

Decked out in amazing gear: Retha, Moram, Pariset, and Adaina felt ready to return to Dwimmermount. On level 4, they killed: rust monsters, ranines, black pudding, minotaurs, phase spiders, wererats, giant rats, and a succubus; the team found another treasure map.

GOAT [Citadel of Fire]
Retha, Moram, Pariset, and Adaina traveled near the village of Aztlan and hired the human druid Rolneija (and her brown bear companion Gremmly) to help them find the treasure; she warned them of powerful evil in the area from the yuan-ti purebloods. Together, they killed a goblin horde before going to stop the evil cultists at the Temple of Kutalabold. GOAT killed: temple elite guards, evil acolytes, and yuan-ti pureblood clerics.

The team was invited to dinner with witches at the Manse of the Bloodmaidens, but it was just a pretense to try to kill them. The witches and their wizard minions attacked, but the team killed them all; the druid and her bear were killed. At the Old Aztlan Necropolis, the lich Dwregga offered the group an alliance to work together to defeat the mutual enemies at the Citadel of Fire. Reluctantly, they agreed.

Dwregga’s undead army helped kill the monsters at the keep, but it was obvious the lich was going to take all of the treasure and betray the team so they let him be killed off by the wizards. The wizards of the keep (with their golems and minions) and the undead army mostly killed each other off; the team finished off the remaining enemies and collected the treasure. They also rescued the slave girls inside. They went back to the lich’s lair and destroyed his phylactery before he could reform.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Levels 5 & 6]
Retha, Moram, Pariset, and Adaina returned to their guildhall; at this point Pariset and Adaina had started sleeping together. They hired some locals to guard their vault while they went back into the dungeons of Dwimmermount and made an alliance with the friendly dwarves that were exploring inside. The monsters on level 5 proved to be barely an inconvenience for the now highly-powered team; they killed: ranines, rust monsters, shadows, minotaurs, green guardians, juju zombies, a mimic, dretches, Mercury ooze, wererats, manes, shadows, and phase spiders; in the end, the wizard Nazares (who had stored his soul in a diamond for over 200 years and gone insane took over Adaina’s body and killed the others.

Nazares was shocked when he left the dungeon and soon realized he was pregnant (in Adaina’s body, with the child of Pariset). Nazares possessed the town leader (Thevenin Verodart the Castellan), stole GOAT’s equipment and treasure, and erased the memories of recent events from Adaina’s mind. She woke up alone in the guildhall without knowing why the rest of the adventuring party was dead or what had happened to all of their amazing gear.

While waiting to have her baby, Adaina asked the adventuring group called the “Seekers” to investigate what had happened and to continue clearing out Dwimmermount; their party consisted of Ysabelon of Asana the human cleric, Richal the human fighter, Marguerin the human wizard, Jeffroy the human thief, and Ogal the dwarf fighter.

The Seekers cleared out level 6 of Dwimmermount (not finding any answers for Adaina), but killing all the monsters and splitting the treasure with her; meanwhile Nazares used the fortune he stole from GOAT to fund several building projects in Muntburg, including a massive tower for himself and more wall defenses. When he heard what the Seekers had accomplished, he paid assassins to kill them. Afraid for her life, Adaina teleported to the City of Greyhawk - to the GOAT safehouse - and gave birth to Pariset II, the half-elf child.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Village of Muntburg]
Stormi, Asceline, and Adaina admitted their defeat and used GOAT’s connections to ask for help from Elster’s family on Toril. The gold dragonborn twin sons of Nera, Pertinax and Didiax, had both already had several children and were ready to come adventure on Oerth. Othon, Vesan, and Flavon (3 of the human/quarter-dwarf children of Augin and Tamsil) happily joined in the campaign as well (even though none of them had produced any offspring).

Pertinax the bard, Didiax the barbarian, Othon the rogue, Vesan the wizard, and Flavon the cleric became the new active GOAT team. Adaina teleported them to Muntburg (with gear given to them by Stormi) and wished them well before returning to raise her son in the City of Greyhawk.

They asked around and found out the town leader had drastically changed in the last year and, to them, was obviously the person who had stolen from GOAT. They stealthed in at night, figured out the large gem was a container for the evil wizard’s soul, and destroyed it. The wizard Nazares could no longer change bodies and they killed him in the body of Thevenin Verodart. They reclaimed GOAT’s stolen gear.

Pertinax used his bard skills to have Vesan appointed the new town leader and Vesan agreed to stay behind while the others adventured; he would run local politics for the team and they would bring him important spellbooks/scrolls.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Level 7]
Pertinax, Didiax, Othon, and Flavon went into Dwimmermount to clear level 7. They had some difficulty, but eventually succeeded by killing: a black pudding, a dwimmerdragon, ropers, a gorgon, mimics, stirges, a chimera, trolls, troglodytes, Termaxian warriors, Termaxian wizards, dworgs, locusts, giant vampire bats, a cave kraken, a fire elemental, and piercers. The team rescued the dwarf explorers Thobek and Harsten (both fighters who decided to join the team); GOAT also found a treasure map to a ruined wizard tower.

Tired of the megadungeon, the team decided to follow their new treasure map into the wilderness...

GOAT [Wilderness Survival Guide: Wild Things Set]
While journeying through the wilderness looking for treasure, the team ended up conquering some monster lairs: (1) ettercaps and spiders, (2) manticores and griffons, (3) a white dragon, (4) orcs, (5) a red dragon, (6) wmics and thri-keen, (7) trolls and centaurs, and (8) storm giants. Luckily they all lived and collected a nice haul of treasure.

GOAT [Dwimmermount Level 8 & 9]
Pertinax, Didiax, Othon, and Flavon returned to Dwimmermount to clear out level 8, which was an old military prison installation used by the Eld. They killed: golems, Termaxian warriors, Termaxian wizards, a thessalgorgon,Termaxian husks, and a glabrezu demon. They also battled the demigod Turms Termax (but were not able to fully destroy him). Along the way Flavon was killed, but the team rescued the human paladin Hu P’an (who had been in stasis here for 200 years). Hu P’an encouraged them to go down to the next level so they could get what they needed to fully destroy Turms Termax.

Pertinax and Didiax accepted paladin training from Hu P’an, thus multiclassing. Othon refused to take a paladin oath, but continued with them down to level 9 (which was a subterranean urban wilderness known as “The City of the Ancients”). The slayed a pair of dwimmerdragons before finding another paladin, Jin Tai (who also joined them), and making an alliance with the 60 mongrelmen. They killed fire salamanders, golems, Terrim guards, Terrim wizards, a tentacled eye, the Thelidu, and a gloom crawler; along the way Didiax, Flavon, and Hu P’an perished in combat. The rest of the team befriended the rogue Termaxian wizard Lady Gersant; she told them how to defeat Turms Termax for once and for all.

Pertinax, Jin Tai, and Lady Gersant subdued the disembodied head of Turms Termax, threw it into the Azoth pools in the mining area of the megadungeon, and lit the Azoth on fire; it was able to finally bring an end to the archvillain of this evil place. Neither Jin Tai nor Lady Gerstand wanted the treasure so Pertinax took it all to his cousin Vesan, who had been ruling the city, and suggested they return to the City of Greyhawk. Enjoying his role developing the region and protecting the locals, Vesan decided to use some of the wealth and stay there. Pertinax brought the rest back to GOAT HQ before retiring from adventuring and returning to his family in Waterdeep.

Vesan made Muntburg so prosperous that he eventually attracted the attention of the most powerful and elite people in the region. He even received an invitation to visit the City-State of the Invincible Overlord with the implication of being offered an alliance of some sort...
