Tales of a Player (FOE Logs 1-16)

Federation of Explorers (FOE) Sessions
Homebrew Campaign set in a modified Forgotten Realms
Back on Sept. 28, 2016 some of us came together to start a new campaign DM'd by AMC. I created a half-orc druid (with a criminal background) named Thok Darkvale. JW made a human ranger named Regnar Thalik who had lost his memories about his past. GD created Magnus, the human barbarian. We were all working in the Calimshan region as caravan guards for some merchants, but the starting story was that the caravan was attacked and we were captured...

Session 1: Escaping Sapphiraktar's Lair
Thok, Regnar, Magnus, and the main "human merchant" woke up naked in a cage hovering over some magical energy. The group broke out, killed 2 bandits (taking their equipment), and explored. In fighting out of the lair, the group killed: 16 crawling hands, a minotaur skeleton, 9 guards, 2 human skeletons, and a wraith. They also set off a magical explosion and stole some magic items (that turned out to be cursed); Regnar took an oath bow, Magnus grabbed a totem that turned him into a werebear, and Thok put on some demon-shell armor (and took 3 random books from the library). The merchant (who turned out to be a lich) obtained the hand and eye of Vecna before thanking the group and teleporting away to his lair in the north. They found out they had been in the lair of the blue dracolich Sapphiraktar.

Session 2: Meeting the Quest-Givers
Magnus ran off at night as a rampaging werebear, leaving Thok and Thalik alone in the swamp/woods. Because Regnar's cursed oath bow demanded a sacrifice each day, they killed a faerie dragon and rested. The next morning they helped Var the fire genasi wizard and Hector the dwarf fighter defeat 2 shadows and a spectre before finding a fortified human village.

They befriended Talindra the elf druid (who suggested they clear out undead from the nearby cemetary), Stool the frogman cleric of Semuanya (who wanted them to go clense a monster-filled temple), and Mayor Garval (who needed them to stop his evil bandit brother). Regnar acted as town executioner so he could get his kill for the day. Thok took the 3 stolen evil books to the local sage and left them there for the old man to study. They stayed at "The Goblin's Cauldron Taver-Inn."

Session 3: Rescuing Brandol
Thok, Regnar, Var, and Hector decided to call their group the Federation of Explorers. They found out about a missing 12 year-old boy named Brandol and agreed to go find and rescue him. They found the cave where he was held prisoner, killed the slavers (4 regular lizardfolk, 2 enhanced lizardfolk, 1 human bandit, and 1 human captain); they saved Brandol and 2 human adults.

When the group returned to the human village, they met with Talindra who explained that Regnar had been marked by Malar and they needed to kill a black dragon (who was the son of a dragon that had brought Tiamat back into the world in the past).

Session 4: Clearing the Graveyard
Thok, Regnar, Var, and Hector decided to take out the dangers in the graveyard before going on the dragon slaying quest. They destroyed: 9 zombies, 3 skeletons, 1 skeletal minotaur, 1 wight, and a flameskull. One the way back to the village, the flameskull reformed and they had to keep destroying it until they got some holy water to finish it off.

Session 5: Introducing Son of the Sun
Hector told Thok, Regnar, and Var he wouldn't adventure with them anymore because of Regnar's evil Malar mark. Luckily, Son of the Sun (the half-elf monk) showed up and offered to join the group with their questing because he was hunting a necromancer that had destroyed his shop. The group went and cleared out the bandit keep led by the mayor's evil brother; FOE killed 5 gnolls (2 regular, 2 lords, and 1 "Fang of Yeenoghu"), 1 orc berserker, 1 human scout, 10 bandits, and the bandit leader). They donated everything back to the village, except for 1 wagon with horses that they kept for adventuring.

Session 6: Slaying the Black Dragon
Thok, Regnar, Var, and Son were about to leave to go find the dragon's lair when a half-dragon and 4 kobolds showed up to collect the dragon's "tax" from the village. The group killed the enemies, hired a wagon driver, killed 3 slavers (rescuing a captured gnome), and proceeded to slay the black dragon; the dragon's soul was captured into the oath bow, getting rid of the curse and altering the magic item into an acid bow. The group allowed the 3 surviving kobolds to become paid servants working for FOE.

They encountered 4 elves who took them to a nearby elf village; there, they befriended the high cleric of Corellon and paid magic-smiths to turn the black dragon's hide into acid-resistant cloaks with "FOE: Federation of Explorers: Out to Kill the Forces of Evil" imprinted on them. The group then returned to the human town, where they found out the sage had run off with the evil books and they paid 100 gp to buy his abandoned 2-story home.

Session 7: Clearing the Semuanya Temple
Thok, Regnar, Var, Son, and the 3 kobolds brought Stool Deevi along in their wagon to go clear out the monsters in the Semuanya temple. On the way, they killed 2 will-o-wisps and 4 spined devils. Inside, they killed: 3 purple bearded devils, 1 barbed devil, and 7 imps; they rescued a human, an elf, and a lizardfolk. They clensed the temple and did a ritual that turned Thok's cursed demon armor into "Champion of Semuanya" treebark armor. Stool said they would collect frogfolk and lizardfolk from the swamp to come keep the temple secure.

When the group returned to the human village, they found out an army of undead had been spotted heading that way. Thok sent as many villagers as possible to head toward the Semuanya temple for shelter while the rest of the town prepared the defense.

Session 8: Defending the Human Village
Hector, who was helping defend the village, told Regnar how they originally met; Regnar's forgotten backstory included working for Malar in the past, killing dwarves, but Regnar had refused to kill Hector and was punished with memory loss.

When the undead army showed up, FOE took on the enemies coming from the back of the town while the mayor led the front defense. FOE destroyed 3 skeletons, 3 zombies, and 1 ghast before the front invaders joined in: 1 necromancer (the old sage possessed by the book, thus the same spirit Son was after), some flameskulls, more skeletons, and more zombies. The town won the battle, but Talindra and Hector were killed (along with many of the human guards). When Thok had tried to destroy the evil necromancer book, it summoned a spectre to defend itself and Son had to finish it off. Var used magic missiles to destroy the book. Talindra's male elf assistant took over protecting her grove.

Session 9: The Orbs of Denial
Thok, Regnar, Var, Son, and the 3 kobolds (Kriv, Shamash, and Nala) took along a lizardfolk to go to the elf village and form a human-elf-Semuanya alliance for the swamp and forest. The elf high cleric asked FOE to go into an abandoned elf village, into the underground, and retrieve the lost Orbs of Denial so the elves could put up magical protections from the undead. Son negotiated sending elf supplies to help the humans. Thok hooked up with the elf barmaid Sarael.

[Above: Sarael]

On the way to the abandoned elf village, the group encounter 10 satyrs that charmed and kidnapped Thok and the 3 kobolds. Regnar, Var, and Son ended up lost in the woods searching for them. After being seduced by the satyrs, Thok and the kobolds escaped. With the party back together, they made their way down into the elf ruins. They killed 5 drow guards, 1 drider, and 1 drow mage (with her summoned shadow demon); they freed 2 male drow slaves and looted the place.
[Above: Shamash]

Session 10: The Human-FOE Mining Project: Part 1
Thok, Regnar, Var, Son, Kriv, Shamash, and Nala took the loot from the elf ruins and returned to the elf village to rest. The baelnorn's journal told them about the Twisted Rune Society members: the merchant lich from the 1st adventure, the dracolich Sapphiraktar, and someone else). The high cleric agreed to the political alliance and said they would work on setting up the magical defenses with the orbs.

Sarael agreed to continue the romance with Thok; they bought a nice elf carriage and hired an elf driver. When the group returned to the human village, they accepted a quest to clear out a nearby mine in exchange for 10% of the mining profits to go to FOE. At the mine: Kriv, Nala, Sarael, and the driver stayed with the wagon and carriage while the rest of the group went in and cleared out: 5 giant spiders, 6 violet fungi, 3 gas spores, 2 piercers, 1 roper, 1 basilisk, and 1 grick; Son was petrified by the basilisk and turned into a statue.

Even though there were more mining tunnels to clear out, the team brought the Son statue back to the human village and used all of the money to pay Talindra to reincarnate him; Son came back as an air genasi.
[Above: Son]

Session 11: The Human-FOE Mining Project: Part 2
Thok, Regnar, Var, Son, and Shamash (with support from Kriv, Nala, Sarael, and their elf driver) travelled back to the abandoned mines. They burned away the glowing fungus and continued into more tunnels. They killed: 1 hook horror, 3 ettercaps, 1 phase spider, 2 giant spiders, and 2 spider swarms, 2 gelatinous cubes, 1 shambling mound, 2 yellow ocre jellies, and 1 hydra; 1 phase spider escaped and Shamash died.
After the battle, Son was skinning the dead hydra while the others were getting for the loot.

Session 12: Into the Wizard Maze
Thok, Regnar, and Var (with support from Kriv, Nala, Sarael, and their elf driver) brought the loot from the mines back to the human village after the surviving phase spider killed Son and took his dead body into the Ethereal Plane. At the village, the group met Zen Bloodmoon (who was another half-elf monk, but obsessed with dead bodies instead of the Sun). They spent their new loot reincarnating Shamash as a human. Regnar made some money training people as rangers while Thok and Sarael continued their romance.

The elf village leaders send a letter asking for FOE's help; the group journeyed there and accepted a quest from the high cleric to go find the lost elf city of Faegil ("Spirit-Star") and find out what happened to the previous group that was sent there. Thok convinced Sarael to stay behind for her own safety (since he suspected she might be pregnant). Thok, Regnar, Var, Zen, Shamash, Kriv, and Nala spent four days searching the forest before finding a strange magical barrier that kept the kobolds from passing through. Kriv and Nala had to stay behind with the donkeys.

Thok, Regnar, Var, Zen, and Shamash went into a wizard maze with puzzles and traps (and dead elf bodies); they made it through a water/invisible barrier room, rolling rock trap, a dragon statue timer trap, some sphinx riddles, some poisoned darts, a mimic, and a room with 5 shadows, and an ooze trap (where Var died in the lake of oozes). The group then went through a wall portal (into an eladrin wizard's room)...

Session 13: Freeing Faegil
At the eladrin's dining room: Thok, Regnar, Shamash, and Zen were offered food (the hearts of angels) and wine by the eladrin wizard; the food refreshed them, but the wine gave exhaustion. The wizard, 2 statues, and an animated carpet attacked the group; the wizard teleported out after Zen poured the wine down his throat. As the group continued in the eladrin's lair, they killed: 1 Frankstein-like chimera, 3 zombies, and 5 intellect devourers; Shamash died again, but the group rescued an elf sorcerer and elf fighter. Together, they killed the eladrin wizard (who turned out to be a rakshasa in disguise) and freed Faegil from a magical painting enchantment.

The group realized they had been temporally displaced by 2 years when Faegil returned from the Feywild to Toril. When they returned to the elf town with an ambassader from Faegil, it was a ghost town and they realized the entire forest had been attacked by an undead army; according to the high cleric's journals a bunch of the civilians travelled north to seek shelter with the dwarves in the mountains while the rest of the town stayed to fight the undead.

Session 14: Finding Thokson
Thok, Regnar, Zen, the 2 elves, and the Faegil ambassader headed north to find the dwarves in the mountains. Along the way, the group encountered a vampire and ghost; during battle, the ambassader was killed and Thok was aged 30 years. At the mountains, a dwarf scouting party led FOE to Khemdural, an underground city with refugees living there.

Thok found Sarael (who had been working as a barmaid) and their child Thokson; Thok gave Sarael his 150 gp to buy the family a nice home. Zen paid to get a message sent to Faegil to warn them about the undead. The dwarf magistrate hired FOE to go clear out the drow from below that had taken over some dwarf underground settlements.

Session 15: Killing Drow: Part 1
[I was actually sick and missed this session. I gave the DM and group permission to play Thok in my absence. They told me what happened during the session.]

Thok, Regnar, Zen, and the 2 elves were joined by the dwarf cleric Bolder Lighthammer; they went down deeper into the dwarf underground via a shaft. In the drow-infested stronghold, they fought and killed lots of drow. They also took out a bearded devil and bone devil. They tried to rest, but enemies found them. The elf sorceress died in battle. Eventually, the group was able to successfully rest.

Session 16: Killing Drow: Part 2
Thok, Regnar, Zen, Melnair (the elf fighter), and Bolder continued their quest in the drow-infested dwarf stronghold. The group killed: 3 drow, 1 drider, and 4 swarms of spiders. They also destroyed a bunch of monster eggs. They found an exit into a huge cavern city taken over by drow, undead, and fiends. They spotted a far off palace keep and a noble estate nearby; the center of the city featured lava flows that went to undercity rivers.

FOE sneaked into the noble manor, killing 2 hell hounds. The group rested in the stables before sending Zen out disguised as a drow guard. Zen led a drow mage, 3 regular guards, and 3 elite guards back to the estate's courtyard for an epic battle with FOE that resulted in a TPK when the drow poison kept knocking people out; FOE killed most of their enemies, but the drow mage and 2 of her guards won in the end. Melnair was pushed into a pool of lava that killed him. Zen and Regnar were KO'd while Thok and Bolder bled to death from their wounds.

[Despite the TPK, we all had a wonderful time. My FOE logs will continue with updates on Tuesdays.]

Logs 1401-1430: Force Green

Current Campaign Campaign Overview:
I weaved together: Gygax’s Skull Mountain Drawing, Palace of the Vampire Queen, Council of Thieves, Kingmaker, Dwarven Glory, Curse of Strahd, Storm King’s Thunder, Reverse Dungeon, and Cloud Giant's Bargain.

(Above: Ori Barrelgut)

Session 1401
Backgrounds (25 years went by since the end of the last campaign)
Ori Barrelgut: As a child, his parents were killed adventuring and the wagon guard/servant crew brought him back to Daggerford with his twin brother. The brother was adopted by a noble family, but they only wanted 1 child so he was not adopted; caravan guards brought him to mountain dwarves (Clan Ironboar). They told him they had never heard of his father’s name/clan, same with his mother; but they trained him in the ways of Moradin. Eventually a drow woman showed up claiming to be his grandmother V’Zarbreena, but Ori rejected her. Ori’s best friend was his shieldbrother Travok Ironboar.

(Above: Pylia)

Pylia (“Sapphire Mistress”), daughter of Gael & Thane, grew up at the family keep with her brother Eilion (“Azure Lord”); Eilion had accepted responsibility to learn how to run the keep while she went and trained with the Eldrath Veluuthra as a bladesinger to learn the magic of Evermeet. While with the EV, Pylia became good friends with Drizmar the drow rogue (nephew of Drizzt).

(Above: Drizmar Do'Urden)

Mercy was the tiefling adopted by the Blueblood family and raised by Fluter along with the twins “Blue” and “Blood.” Mercy trained as a fighter but likes to behave like a bard.

New RPG Date: 1525 DR / 745 CY
Recently: Oran the Green Lord was slain by a dark force in the Feywild; Glora & Blueblood I are missing – presumed dead from the battle. Oran’s son, Oberon gathered people together for the funeral services and to discuss their inheritances. Oberon said his father had divided up his lands in the Feywild into hextares, hexagonal-shaped regions to be given to various family members of his greatest agents. Pylia, Ori, & Mercy were amongst those meant to inherit land. Unfortunately, Oran’s actual will has always been magically locked so that only Oran could access it and change it. The device for others to open it was hidden away hundreds of years ago on the dwarven island of Baylor (on Oerth). Only the king of the dwarves there knows what the actual key looks like and where it is, but once it is retrieved, Oberan – as Oran’s son – can unlock it with his own blood. Oberan wanted the group to go to Baylor and retrieve the magical key so they could verify which lands and magical items are to be given to which inheritors. Oberan felt he needed to stay to preside over the defenses.

When Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok, and Mercy arrived at the island they saw the wreckage of an old human ship that crashed hundreds of years ago). They went to the dwarf capitol city and spoke with the leader, King Arman, who said he was the 2nd son of their father (who was the leader in the war to wipe out the 10 Orc Tribes that used to be on the island) and his older brother knows Oran’s secret; his brother relinquished his right to the throne (because he preferred not to fight, fell in love with a gnome bard) and went to live with the gnomes – which the dwarves all laughed about, teasing, calling the older brother a “gnome lover.” King Arman told them where the gnome village was, but pointed out they hadn’t actually visited/talked to each other in decades. The dwarf princess was very beautiful and flirted with Ori.

The team spoke with the gnomes, who told them the dwarf and a group of gnomes had been kidnapped and taken as prisoners to Skullstone Mountain. Outside of the Skullstone Mountain cave, the group fought and killed 2 Pteranodons and 2 Crawling Hands.

Session 1402
Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok Ironboar, Mercy, and their 5 wild elf guides continued into Skullstone Mountain. Inside it seemed to be an old temple with an alter showing a huge demon standing in a volcano with a powerful mace. The wild elves seemed to worship the statue. The group killed 4 mud mephits, 2 darkmantles, 6 skeletons, 4 giant crabs, 4 ghouls, and a sea hag. They rescued 50 imprisoned gnomes (who were being bred and their babies fed to monsters) and the dwarf king’s older bro, who said the dwarf princess’ pendant was the key to unlocking Oran’s will; it had been passed down each generation of their family. He said his sister did not know of its importance, only that she was to pass it down to the first woman born of the next generation.

The group returned the gnomes to their city and took a carriage back to the dwarf capitol, where they found out the princess and 9 children were taken during the night; the kind had allowed this to happen so Ori was angry with him and destroyed the evil warhammer there; he demanded the king’s father’s powerful good warhammer.

Session 1403
Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok, and Mercy spoke with the pixie waiting to planeshift them back to the Feywild, who left because their mission was taking too long; he said he would check back in with them in a week. They spent the next day walking back to the gnome village, where they had to kill 5 goblins, 5 wolf spiders, a human pirate captain, a berserker, 8 pirate scouts, and 5 goblin bosses. An evil idol caused the Balor demon on the island to communicate with Pylia via the idol; he said she would become his servant within 3 days.

Session 1404
Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok, and Mercy continued on to the Palace of the Vampire Queen! They went through levels 1-4 and used the factions against each other. They made an alliance with the wizard selling magic items and used his shop as a base as they engaged in tactical combat to kill off the monsters. They also rescued a group of cats that turned out to have telepathic powers.

Session 1405
Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok, and Mercy spoke with a representative sent down the stairs from the Vampire Queen who revealed she wanted the Balor idol and was willing to trade it for the princess. The group killed the negotiator. Then they went up to level 5 and killed 2 wraiths (making 3 more run away). They rescued 5 more dwarf children before resting. The group retreated back to the wizard’s shop, where they fended off an attack by 20 vampire spawn; they destroyed 16 and 4 ran away. Their new hill giant allies died, as well as 1 of the 4 lynx kittens.

Session 1406
Pylia, Drizmar, Ori, Travok, and Mercy fought 12 goblins on their way to the gnome city. They asked the gnome mayor to take care of the rescued dwarf children. They had their new pegasus ally go scout the dwarf capitol city. The group went after the pirates/slavers; they killed the mindflayer and captured 4 human pirates, rescuing another 25 children (10 human, 10 half-elf, 5 elves). They acquired the ancient eladrin turtle ship the mindflayer had been using for his slaver operations and recruited 4 gnomes to help onboard.

The group went to a dwarf outpost tower and met up with the pegasus; they met the laid back (surfer dude) dwarf commander and his 12 battlerager soldiers; they brought the 12 battleragers with them to the northern mines while sending the pegasus to go scout the citadel/capitol city some more. At the mines, they killed the dwarf archmage of the merchant’s guild (who had come and told the mining chief to submit to the authority of the merchant’s council and Hellknights that followed Mephistopheles and had killed off the king and his loyal servants).

Session 1407
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Ori (with lynx), Travok, and Mercy found out the shrine cleric of Moradin from the castle was found and captured by the enemy Hellknights; they were about to execute him. The team led a huge resistance battle in the city. When a dragon turtle came up out of the ocean and attacked the city [Godzilla-style], Pylia convinced the creature to go back into the ocean; the Vampire Queen had threatened its eggs/children. Only 3 battleragers survived; they suggested getting the other troop from the other lookout tower. The Vampire Queen was said to be in the tunnels under the city; Ori hoped to retire after getting back the pendant. The team rested for the rest of the day. Ori establish “martial law” as the “high cleric of Moradin” of the island; they found temporary living for the children and turned in the human prisoners. They planned to go search the tunnels in the morning.

Session 1408
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Ori (with lynx), Travok, and Mercy went to dwarf outpost A and met with the commander wizard with a troop of battleragers. They brought them back to the capitol, sent a caravan to the gnome village (with one of the 4 gnomes from the ship – to get gnomes to help repair the battleships and to get the dwarf children), fought a bunch of enemies, took out the remaining Mephistopheles cell in the sewers (sent away the Succubus and her 4 guards after getting rid of their wererat curse), and took out the swamp base by killing the “Mother of Flies” and the Vampire Queen’s last known forces [which included a vampire that they assumed was the Vampire Queen]. They got the pendant back, but the dwarf princess had been killed.

Session 1409
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Ori (with lynx), Travok, and Mercy celebrated their victory. Mercy’s adopted siblings (who had split the Blueblood name) showed up, from the Feywild: Seh’Ael (“Soft Knight”) Thoron (a.k.a. “Blue” the satyr paladin - whose twin sister was known as “Blood” the satyr cleric); the pixie brought him to the dwarf island. The group was discussing splitting loot. The gnome village group returned with the dwarf children. Ori (w/lynx), Mercy (w/lynx), and Travok decided to stay on the island with Ori becoming the new king, Travok his closest advisor, and Mercy their to help people accept tieflings (after the evils done by the tiefling Hellknights).

Leaving on the eladrin turtle ship “The Tortuga” were: Pylia (w/lynx), Drizmar, 4 gnome workers, and Blue. They returned the children they had rescued, bringing the elves to Lendore Isle and the humans to the City of Greyhawk. They went back to Baylor Island, got the Feywild pixie to planeshift them back to Oberon’s court, and gave the necklace to Oberon (who seemed drained and said his people didn’t trust him). They confronted the Nymph Queen, but she backed down without a fight. The team then went to Theymarsh and spoke with Prince Breth (Gabe’s son) and Blue’s sister Blood; they shut down the forest Feywild portal. After that, they got a book with a Phlogiston navigational chart since the Tortuga turned out to be a Spelljammer ship!

Session 1410
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, and Blood took down time after hiring crew for the Tortuga. They had 250 days while the ship was being worked on. They learned languages, bonded with the crew, and communicated with Ori (who, as king of Baylor Island was also training as a battlerager).

Once the ship was fully functional and they understood how to operate it as a Phlogiston/space-traveling vessel they spent 6 days going from Oerth - through the Phlogiston - to the Feywild. During the trip: on 3rd day saw a trading post on an asteroid, but decided to keep going; on 4th day a goblin Ship wanted to trade with them but they refused; on 5th day they saw and avoided a space dragon; in the Phlogiston, the Feywild looked like a green nebula of multiple planets phasing together. An eladrin with a starfighter called “Liberty” greeted the group and landed with them at the new Green Lord’s palace. The team went in and spoke to Oberon about the mission to clear out evil fey and dangers from the territory. They also planned to have sages research the Nymph Queen for them.

Session 1411
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, and Blood took out dangers in the Feywild territory that their families had inherited from Oran the Green Lord. They dealt with: bear traps, a potion-maker’s hut, grigs, kobolds with “moon radishes,” a bandit camp led by the “Stag Lord,” frogfolk, trolls, the nymph Nyrissa, a den of 2 young green dragons, and an owlbear.

They retrieved items from an ancient eladrin tomb and brought them back to their families at Evermeet (including great wealth with “elven soul gems” and crystals); there were 5 guardian family symbols above and 8 different family symbols below that matched an 8-pointed star diagram. Meanwhile, Liberty had been training their crew and wanted one of the elven soul gems as his reward for the info he had given the team.

Session 1412
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue and Blood argued with Liberty before going out to the swamp to a lair of troglodytes and lizardfolk. Pylia tricked the lizardfolk leader into “marrying her” to make her the “Swamp Queen” in their eyes and thus allow her to free the captured people there. The team also dealt with a dryad druid and her satyr lover, 10 gnome explorers, worgs and wolves on the prowl, an abandoned keep with an evil rogue and assassin vine, an evil tree, a crazy hermit, a swamp with with a scarecrow, will-o-wisps, and a hill giant (that they avoided).

The group continued on to “Hemlock Island Village” where Blue slept with the medusa after the group participated in a tournament (invited by “King” Castruccio Irovetti of Pitax, the multiclassed bard/fighter). They tried to get themselves inducted into the Nymph Queen’s army. Blue received a vision from the holy symbol he retrieved from the old temple there that showed him how to destroy Irovetti’s vorpal sword and banish an evil fey spirit.

Session 1413
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, and Pylia’s 3 lizardfolk guards continued adventuring in the Feywild. Pylia got a magic message from the ship that the Tortuga was under attack because the Green Lord’s palace was under attack; Oberon evacuated his palace as a red dragon’s forces claimed the place for the Nymph Queen.

The group battled: a red half-dragon, 10 nymph warriors, Lord Irovetti/Pitax (who was possessed by an evil fey spirit) 2 guards, and the medusa sorcerer named Phomandala; they saved Irovetti/Pitax but Blood was petrified. The team sanctified the temple and a unicorn arrived who restored Blood. The group got to know the villagers, recruited some people to work at the temple, and rested.

Session 1414
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, and Pylia’s 3 lizardfolk guards rested at the island manor; they spoke with Liberty and the gnomes from their ship. They continued clearing out dangers in the Feywild, killing: evil frogolk, a 12-headed hydra, 4 water elementals, and a troll fighter; at first Blue was distracted by the red half-dragon and then 12 eladrin ghosts, but he helped the team escape from the team of giants that came to get the dragon’s loot. They also killed a 2-headed green dragon and took its dead body to a druid to reincarnate the 2 halves into individual people since 1 of the heads was friendly to them; 1 head was mostly a warrior and came back as a half-elf that flirted with Pylia while the more evil head was mostly a sorcerer and came back as a green dragonborn.

The team also found out about “Big Red the Conqueror” the ancient red dragon that was allied with the Nymph Queen and the father of the annoying red half-dragon that kept interrupting the group.

Session 1415
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, and Pylia’s 2 surviving lizardfolk guards (Ark and Bek Ebonscale) decided to go after the black dragon in the area. Their new allies (the reincarnated 2-headed green dragon halves a.k.a. The Greenscale Brothers) joined them. The team killed: the black dragon with 5 lizardfolk guards, the red half-dragon, a red adult dragon (brother of Big Red), and an evil pixie. They asked the Pitax smith to use the dead dragon bodies to make them fire resistant plate armor and a helmet of acid resistance.

The team returned to Pylia’s “swamp husband” where she dissolved the marriage but made him the “general” in her army. They checked on the human villages in their lands and the dryad druid that they allied with before resting again. They made plans to assault the Nymph Queen’s lair and to possibly take on Big Red after that.

Session 1416
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, Ark, Bek, and the Greenscale Bros killed 12 ettins, a half-dragon/nymph sorcerer, the Nymph Queen, and 2 trolls. Big Red and his lizard vampire henchman both left during the battle, allowing the team to win. Before dying, the Nymph Queen told them that Pylia’s missing family members might be petrified and kept as statues in a “Hall of Statues” owned by the Vampire Queen. They found out the Vampire Queen was really behind all of this and was still alive back on Ori’s island because she had kept a vampiric body double, who was the vampire the group killed.

Session 1417
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, Ark, Bek, and the Greenscale Bros continued in their quest. The group magically messaged Mercy (who was still at Ori’s kingdom) to let them know about the Vampire Queen. Mercy invited the group to come adventure in an abandoned dwarf settlement where a powerful undead was rumored to be, thinking that it might be the secret lair of the hidden Vampire Queen. Before leaving, the team spoke with Oberon who tried both flattery and vague threats to get the team to go kill Big Red for him, but when Oberon refused to join them in the battle they said no.

They spoke with fey-smiths that worked outside Oberon’s palace and found out they were never truly in danger from the dragons because they got a secret hour’s warning from Oberon that the dragons were coming; the group convinced the fey-smiths to come move to Pitax and setup at the Ehlonna Temple. They also strategized with Liberty, letting him know about Oberon’s questionable actions. They magically messaged Big Red & arranged a meeting in “neutral territory” in the Summer Court part of the Feywild. This led to a meeting with 8 kobolds (leveled adventurers) and Big Red, who revealed there were 2 Oberons.

Team Tortuga spend 6 days travelling through space; they encountered merchants selling space rocks, space goblins, and a Mordenkainen family vessel orbiting Oerth that told the group to go to Castle Greyhawk because Blue wanted to buy some magical gear. The group went down and met with Fritz, their distant cousin. Because Pylia looked like Tatyana (from the curse of Strahd), they looked at the painting of her there. They also found out that the Mordenkainen family had married into DL’s family long ago.

The team finally flew to Ori’s Island and updated Mercy. They had a nice dinner with Ori and the dwarf nobles before going to the old (mostly) abandoned dwarf village, to an inn. There were strange people there; the team went down into tunnels (with lost kobolds that the group let go free). They killed orcs, a will-o-wisp, a fallen angle named Elonoin, yellow mold monsters, a creature called Grahuk, and a minotaur. They befriended a minotaur scout, used intel to deal with the undead, and they staked the true Vampire Queen.

They took the friendly minoaturs back home to their island and brought the Vampire Queen to an anti-magic room at Castle Greyhawk, where they interrogated her. She told them that Strahd was actually behind all of this, not her. Strahd was living in returned Barovia near Theymarsh (in the Kingdom of Feymarsh). They realized their Uncle King Gabe and cousin Prince Breth might be mind-controlled by Strahd. They left the Vampire Queen in stasis at Castle Greyhawk (under the watch of GOAT).

Session 1418
Team Tortgua and Liberty finished trading out their loot in Greyhawk. The Greenscale Bros decided to buy a tower/house in the City of Greyhawk and stay behind; the fighter was in love with Pylia, but felt he needed to stay with his brother. They picked up Mercy, travelled 6 days through space to Kalibruhn-Toril (K-T), obtained and used the Kuo-Toa priest staff to open a water portal to the Feywild, and then decided to return to K-T to Theymarsh. They met up with a “bard” who was actually the famous vampire hunter Rudolph Van Richten investigating their family. Pylia got maps of Barovia. They found out Breth, Fluter, and King Gabe had all been turned into vampire minions of Strahd. They went to Barovia and met Ireena, who looked like a human version of Pylia, went to the local chucrch, and killed a vampire spawn.

Session 1419
Pylia (with lynx), Drizmar, Blue, Blood, Ark, Bek, Ireena, Van Richten, and Liberty bought cold weather gear in Waterdeep and then went to assault the Amber Temple in Barovia (that was connected to the Dark Powers that Strahd had made a pact with long ago). The monsters inside killed everyone but Pylia, her cat, and Blue - but the surviving team members finished off the enemies. Meanwhile the ship was attacked and Strahd’s minions killed all of the crew except for Mercy, the Air Genasi commander, the gnome chief, and the chef. The survivors used their wealth to resurrect Drizmar, Ark, Bek, Blood, Ireena, and Van Richten. Liberty’s soul was trapped in the elf soul gem. They used true resurrections for Prince Breth, King Gabe, and Fluter. They brought Liberty’s sould crystal to Evermeet, where the ancient elves put his sould back in his body. While the team rested, Strahd was able to recover whatever valuables were left in the temple.

Session 1420
At Evermeet Team Tortuga (Pylia with her lynx, Drizmar, Blue, Blood, Mercy with his lynx, Ireena, Van Richten, Ark, Bek, Fluter, King Gabe, Prince Breth, the gnome chief, gnome chef, and the air genasi) met with Liberty, who said his family was upset and wanted to get his starfighter ship back; Big Red had stolen the ship. Liberty’s family agreed to wait up to 6 months for the team to deal with Big Red. The gnome chief of staff god letter and inheritances to the dead crew members families. The team bought new gear and had their ship repaired. Mercy hired replacement crew from the Sapphire Coast.

Team Tortuga went back to Barovia, where they destroyed: Baba Lysaga’s creeping hut, 7 scarecrows, a swarm of ravens, 3 wights, and Baba Lysaga. They infiltrated Castle Ravenloft, battled Strahd’s minions inside, and staked/captured Strahd.

Session 1421
The group looted Castle Ravenloft, got info about a gnome who had negotiated hiring the giants that had been a problem back in the Feywild, let the 4 red baby dragons go, and traded out loot back in both Waterdeep and Neverwinter. Ireena and Van Richten both pledged their 27,000 gp (each) portion of the loot to make Barovia a better place. Blue and Pylia suggested Prince Breth move into Castle Ravenloft while King Gabe work with the Theymarsh Corellon clerics to make sure all of the vampires in the area were found and destroyed. Fluter and Mercy decided they wanted to go to the Feywild base.

The team spent 7 days going through space to Oerth, with 5 Eladrin Star Corps ships following them (it took an extra day to avoid the Beholder ships), to Castle Greyhawk. They met with Cousin Fritz and King Belvor of Furyondy (a wizard). They dropped off Strahd and asked GOAT to keep him in magical stasis after questioning him and finding out that the statues of Glora, Borngray I, the good Oberon, and Va’Zarbreena had been left with the leader of the stone giants on K-T. They went back through space to K-T again, with the Star Corps escort.

They went to the canyon with the stone giant leader and made a deal with her; she said she would “take care of” Elister Noggins the gnome (who had arranged Strahd’s hiring of the giants); Blue agreed to destroy Noggins’ merchant shop/house in Loudwater. They got the statues and de-petrified their relatives, who joined the crew on the ship. Team Tortuga used their Kuo-Toa staff to open the ocean portal to the Feywild. The good Oberon, Glora, Borngray I, and Va’Zarbreena went into the Green Lord’s Palace and killed the evil Oberon while the rest of the group stayed out in ship in case the dragons attacked. With the good Oberon in place, the fey held celebrations.

Pylia, Drizmar, Blue, Blood, Mercy, Liberty, and Oberon used Big Red’s rug to teleport into Big Red’s Cave, where they used the wish spell they got (from the luck blade from Castle Ravenloft) to turn Big Red into a donkey. They got the treasure (with Liberty’s ship). Each person’s loot share was 88,750 gp. Liberty paid Blood the money he owed her for the Eladrin soul crystal (250,000 gp) before going with the Star Corps to fight some space orcs/goblins.

The hero families negotiated how to run their territory in the Feywild, settling on a council of 3 (Fluter, Borngray I, & Va’Zarbreena) to lead the 3 families. Each family gave 300,000 gp for 900,000 total; Va’Zarbreena adopted Drizzmar into her family so she could have both his help his family name. Blue & Blood donated 580,000 gp for an anti-teleportation enchantment on the palace with a fixed portal inside. Costs included: Palace = 500,000 gp; 3 temples = total 150,000; 6 Hectare forts = total 90,000; 3 guildhalls = total 15,000; 3 village forts = total 45,000; and that left 100,000 for upkeep and hiring people.

Note: Team Tortuga also bought Elister Noggins’ shop in Loudwater for 10,000 gp and destroyed it; the gnome was missing so they assumed the stone giants got him.

Session 1422
The group talked about taking down time; Pylia’s lynx wanted a cat-sphynx-like palace built for her. The cat and her brother decided to recruit fey to work at the palace they were having built. Pylia left 25,000 gp for now and planned to pay the other 25,000 gp when the palace was finished. Blood de-petrified the old wizard statue from the Amber Temple. He asked about the valley of the gnomes and turned out to be evil “Cap” with a necklace with the letter C with a snake around it. Team Tortuga spent 6 days going to Oerth. They contacted GOAT-1 ship in orbit and brought “Cap” to Castle Greyhawk. King Belvor was there, did an interrogation, destroyed Cap’s evil necklace, and put him in a vault room with no magic. The team went to Furyondy, recieved a formal tour and partied with the nobles. Blue bedded a half-elf woman, though he did not impregnate her; she was from Veluna. Mercy impregnated a half-elf. The next day the group argued in the hall because Mercy had fallen in love so easily.

A month later Blue & Blood went back to the Feywild and directed where to build the family’s new structures. They also held parties for with the fey a month (at 12 different locations); Blue impregnated 4 different women (human, gnome, elf, and firbolg). Meanwhile Pylia went to the Mordenkainen Estate in the City of Greyhawk and studied in their library. She stayed in a nice noble-quality inn in the city. She researched and constructed a new shield guardian. One night she had dinner with Fritz at a tavern. They discussed Me’Urra and GOAT. Pylia spent the next month learning spells and updating her spellbook while Blue was coordinating family operations in the Feywild; Blue was upset with the lynx cats and a leprechaun because an extra 200,000 gp was spent (that Fluter took from Feymarsh).

During the next 10 months of down time, Pylia picked up Blood in the Feywild to go to Evermeet with her. They talked with the elves about possible ship upgrades. Mercy and his new half-elf wife had a baby boy. Blue’s affairs result in a (human) girl, (gnome) boy, (elf) girl, and (firbolg) boy being born. He suggested to the mothers that the children should all live with their clans/villages instead of moving into the family’s new palace.

Session 1423
Side Story: Reverse Dungeon Module [NH, AMC, and KE all played monster characters, establishing a background for KE’s new character Laz]

Laz was a lizardfolk ambassador sent to work with the nearby goblin tribe so there would be an alliance between the swamp’s lizardfolk (and their black dragon master) and the goblins. A group of adventurers tried to kill the goblin tribe after Laz and a drow ambassador had both arrived. The goblin captain, a bugbear, and Laz defended the base from the heroes before learning about a secret tunnel beneath the lair. They went down below and found a wounded beholder who guarded alien tech weapons and wanted them to kill the nearby mindflayer. The group managed to turn the evil factions against each other and escape before the drow arrived to take over the base. They escaped with their treasure and settled at a monastery.

Session 1424
Eventually, Laz left the island and went off adventuring in the world. Laz helped Drizzt Do’Urden and some agents from Aquisitions, Inc. kill a sea serpent. Drittz had been contacted by Va’Zarbreena and was helping her and Drizmar to give the new House Du’Orden a good reputation in the Feywild. When Team Tortuga decided to end their down time, Drizmar was still needed in their operations so Drizzt recommended Team Tortuga hire Laz to temporarily take Drizmar’s place in the adventuring group. Blood also decided to stay behind for awhile to help Fluter, Mercy, and the others in the Feywild.

Pylia (with her shield guardian [who mostly stays on the ship]), Blue, Ark, and Bek met with Drizmar and Drizzt before going to Waterdeep and picking up Laz. The EV sent 3 elves to ask Team Tortuga to clear their names from the blame in the devastation of the town of Nightstone. The group went to The Drowned Maiden tavern and recruited Laz’s friend, the bard Relgar Ruger, before flying to the Ardeep Forest EV enclave. They left the ship there and split the party in Nightstone. Blue went off with Kella Darkhope (the Zhentarim spy) to the caves with the ogres and the village’s survivors while Pylia, her guards, and Laz explored the ruins of the town.

Blue killed Kella when she betrayed him; he intimidated the ogres and rescued the survivors (including the dwarf who owned the inn). He brought the group back to the city, where the “7 Snakes” (Zhentarim agents) had arrived; Laz tried to fool them into thinking he was Kella, but Blue had decapitated her and threw her head to the 7 Snakes. The group convinced the 7 Snakes the surrender to them (after they said they were working for Snail in Daggerford).

Laz befriended the flying snake from the 7 Snakes (naming him Jenkins) and Pylia befriended a tressym. The next morning, the group brought the survivors into Ardeep Forest, to their ship. The elves had spotted a cloud tower flying above. An elf cleric named Himo agreed to join the group. They flew after the cloud giant tower, which turned out to house a cloud giant wizard; when they flew in and spoke with him, they realized he wasn’t the one who attacked the village; the wizard agreed to speak to the cloud giant leaders to try to stop those kind of events from happening in the future.

The group brought the Nightstone survivors back to Waterdeep, where the survivors agreed to sell the town of Nightstone to the Eldreth Veluuthra; Relgar went off to find the frost giant in Waterdeep who works for Force Grey (Harshnag); the rest of the group flew toward Goldenfields to return the tressym to the son of some of the killed villagers; on the way there, they spotted an army preparing to attack the fortified area.

Session 1425
Team Tortuga (Pylia with her shield guardian [who stays on the ship], Blue, Ark, Bek, Laz, and the crew) decided to attack the monster army that had gathered outside of Goldenfields. They killed: 6 hill giants, 12 ogres, 12 bugbears, and 60 goblins; a “moving cloud” that turned out to be an ancient blue dragon was watching from above and temporarily joined the battle, but left when she badly damaged. After the fray, the group went into the city. They spoke with the local, returned the tressym, and found out Relgar found Harshnag.

They returned to Waterdeep, got Harshnag (and Relgar), went to the ancient giant Annam Temple at the Spine of the World. Harshnag ran off the barbarians that were inside. They figured out how to open the portal to get to the inner sanctum, where they found the ghost of the murdered son of Blagothkus; Laz accepted a vengeance quest to avenge the ghost (who was killed by his father). The team communed with the giant’s “all-father” god, who told them about the Ordning and explained the competition between the giants. They also learned about the missing storm giant King Hekaton, whose wife had been murdered. When leaving, the group saw the ancient blue dragon again. Harshnag decided to stay and guard the temple.

Session 1426
Relgar teleported Laz to go on the vengeance quest. Pylia (with her shield guardian [who stays on the ship]), Blue, Ark, and Bek flew the ship back to port in Waterdeep. While resting, Team Tortuga realized - in their dreams and meditations - that they were being scryed upon. Snakes were trying to kill them; Pylia dreamed Strahd, shirtless on horseback, saved her. Meanwhile, yuan-ti assassins working for the ancient blue dragon teleported into Tortuga. The ship was hit with meteor storms while the team killed the intruders; 3 gnome crew died and the ship sank, but the rest of the team safely made it to shore.

Authorities in Waterdeep deputized Blue and he interrogated the surviving attacker; they learned the ancient blu dragon was named Iymrith, she had a lair somewhere in the deserts of Aunaroch, and the storm giants had a Wyrmskull Throne made of blue dragon skulls.

The team rented a noble house in Waterdeep for 500 gp a month, where the Tortuga crew could stay until the ship was repaired. They magically messaged Relgar and spent the next day getting the broken ship shrunk down and teleported to their allies in Evermeet. They were hoping Laz would return before they went to get info from the stone giant leader.

Session 1427
[Laz Side Mission to Avenge Ghost Spirit: Cloud Giant’s Bargain Module]
Relgar took Laz to Waterdeep to speak w/contacts at Aquisitions, Inc. to see what they knew about the cloud giant activities and Blagothkus. Bambra sent them on a mission at the cloud castle where their target was last known to be. Laz and the other new recruits left Relgar behind. At the flying castle, Laz allied with a minotaur and Goldy the gold half-dragon against the other 2 members of their team (a drow priestess and gith monk); they sent the 3 giant eagles and chimera after the other half of the team while they made their way into the castle.

They explored, learned where more cloud giant castles were planning to attack, and killed: a rug of smothering, a helmed horror, Blagothkus, another cloud giant (who survived), and a white dragon (that they used a confusion scroll against). They debriefed down at Aquisitions Inc, found out Bambra was also trying to become an intern and had used them - but the magic skull awarded the most points to the minotaur (who became the new intern for Neverwinter’s Acquisitions, Inc. team).

Relgar took Laz back to the Annam temple, where it had been collapsed and destroyed by Iymrith; they healed Harshnag. They rested after clearing out rocks and confirming the temple was messed up and the ghost had peacefully moved on to the afterlife. They spent the next day hunting down barbarians in the area before going to return to the group in Waterdeep (where they need to tell the officials about the cloud giant castle above the city).

Session 1428
Pylia (with her Shield Guardian), Blue, Ark, Bek, and the crew at the noble house they rented meet up with Laz, Relgar, and Harshnag (who had arrived after dealing with their side quests/issues). They all updated each other and had a group strategy meeting. Harshnag left to go make sure Waterdeep was going to be defended from the cloud giant castle above the city. Pylia bought scrolls and recruited the apprentice wizard boy Billy while Blue interviewed Relgar and Laz cooked a pie.

The team of Pylia, Blue, Laz, Ark, Bek, the shield guardian, Billy, and Himo (the EV cleric) went to Deadstone Cleft and met with the stone giant leader; they talked her into using her magic seashell to teleport them all to the Maelstrom (the underwater home of the storm giant leaders). There, the team saw the evil storm giant sisters Mirran and Nym, who were trying to take power from their sister Serissa, with an envoy of different types of giants that they recruited to replace the current leaders of the different giant clans. When the group confronted everyone and exposed their plans, Mirran and Nym fled upstairs. All of the giants followed and a huge battle started up there. Pylia, Blue, Laz, Ark, Bek, the shield guardian, Billy, and Himo retreated to the throne room (and convinced the 2 guards there to go try to save Serissa’s life before it was too late). Blue sat on the Wyrmskull Throne and was physically paralyzed (with a magical force field that appeared around him) as the voices of the ancient dragons telepathically whispered to him.

Session 1429
[Not a typical session, but NPC battle royale with giants fighting to accurately determine the winners/survivors - the fire giant representative Tartha and Serissa.]

Session 1430
Team Tortuga (Pylia, Blue, Laz, Ark, Bek, the shield guardian, Billy, and Himo the EV cleric) were still in the throne room with Blue trapped on the Wyrmskull Throne. Drizzt showed up with Drizmar, leaving his nephew behind to help the group because he needed Laz to come with him to go clear up some legal issues that resulted from when they killed the sea serpent for Acquisitions, Inc.]. With Laz and Drizzt gone and Drizmar returned, the group spoke with Tartha and Serissa. Serissa freed Blue in exchange for the team agreeing to go find and return her father - with the only clue being a wooden gambling token.

The team visited Jamna in Leilon (to find out where the gambling token came from) and ended up discussing all kinds of family stuff (with the connection of the gold dragonborn and Tamoachan, etc - with Blue’s plan for a million gold, etc). Jamna’s clerk was a feisty young handsome gnome guy who argued with Blue. They teleported to Yartar since that was where Jamna said the wooden token came from. The team went into the Zhent Catfish tavern while waiting for the riverboat gambling ship to come to port.

On the ship, they explored the mystery of Lord Drylund, who died after telling him about Hekaton being held on a ship travelling around “the purple rocks.” They also met Pow Ming and ended up freeing her so she wouldn’t be executed by the Zhentarim before they teleported to their rented home in Waterdeep. In Waterdeep, they met with Zaldar Floshin (who agreed to give them passage on his ship) and sent Billy home with a spellbook to learn from.

Logs 1376-1400: Fey Knights Part 2

1376-1390: Campaign Overview
For this campaign I weaved together the modules: Out of the Abyss, Savage Tide, Legacy of Fire, and Curse of Strahd’s “Death House” with a bunch of Homebrew Multiverse Stuff

1376: TFK v. Drow Houses
RPG Date: 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 29
Still turned into drow, TFK (Blueblood III as Fallenleaf, Borngray II as Priestess Roperlsayer, Gabe as Oozie, Saeval as Spiderheart, and Sarthelius as Missiler) defeated the enemies at the Tower of Vengeance: 20 animated suits of armor and 4 gargoyles. They retrieved the loot that was left behind and used raise dead on Karva, bringing her back to life. The fighting dwarf wasn’t too keen on the idea of her party being drow.

They returned to Menzoberranzan, where House Mother Va’Zarbreena Do’Rahel asked them to kill Grin (because he had been plotting with House Fey-Branche to assassinate her). They successfully took down Archmage Grin and his death Slaad bodyguard. Va’Zarbreena and her head house servant Salutations the deep gnome teleported out to go visit with one of her dwarf grandsons, leaving the house in in the control of Borngray II as Priestess Roperslayer.

As a group, with the army of bugbears and drow house members, TFK defended themselves from the assault by House Fey-Branche and went and conquered the other house. They called a city council meeting to make it official and have everyone recognize the authority of their new house name: House Slayer. Sarth/Missiler was appointed the new archmage of the city.

The leaders of House Slayer were invited to a meeting with House Melarn in which they were attacked and had to defend themselves. They ended up having to kill the house leaders and guards at the meetinghouse. Saeval went undercover to go spy on the mercenaries in the city. Sarthelius refused to give back the demon-worshipping book that was recovered from Grin.

1377: The Eldreth Veluuthra v. Menzoberranzan
RPG Date: 1498 DR, Month 5, Day 4
Still drow, TFK (Borngraray II as Priestess Roperslayer, Blueblood III as Fallenleaf, Gabe as Oozie, Sarthelius as Missiler, and Karva as a dwarf slave) were on their way to speak with House Faen-Tlabbar when they were ambushed by a band of mercenaries (that included Saeval, though he wasn’t actually trying to kill them). They had to kill 5 elite drow assassins and 2 goristro demons (1 of which they banished).

They met with the new city’s leader, the house mother of Faen-Tlabbar, and indicated that they needed to have a council meeting the new morning. Once the council was assembled, Sartha/Missiler announced that she had scryed and seen an army coming to assault the city through a secret tunnel (the one from the Tower of Vengeance); she offered to lead all of the city’s slaves through the tunnel to defend the drow. Since they had already lost half of the city’s population in the recent turmoil of the house battles, the mothers on the council agreed to the plan.

Deciding they had done enough to disrupt Menzoberranzan, TFK returned to the Eldreth Veluuthra army encampment (after doing a magical sending message to make sure they wouldn’t be killed on sight as drow). Borngray II and Blueblood III met with their fellow Blade Lords to plan the invasion. They waited just one more day.

They had Eldernath use gate scrolls to send in the hired 10,000 duergar fighters to the front of the city; Torynnar had used gate scrolls to get the slaves to safety (with Sarthelius leading them out to start new lives) and place the EV army in the secret tunnel so they could come up from behind to flank the drow.

Borngray, Gabe, and Talindra Amalith stood strong leading one branch of the army while Blueblood III and Karva led another branch through the city. Without their slaves, and with their forces surrounded, the drow were defeated by the EV; during the battle, Eldaerneth Spellstalker was killed by enemy forces (which meant the Blade Lords council consisted of remaining members Torynnar, Saeval, Talindra, Borngray II, and Blueblood III).

As a result of the battle, 200 drow surrendered as prisoners of war. Gabe offered to let them go resettle in one of the ruined villages near Theymarsh as part of the Feymarsh Kingdom. The EV numbers were dwindled down to just 2500. The remaining duergar were in control of Menzoberranzan (though their red dragon had been killed by the drow).

Sarthelius/Sartha decided to remain a female drow, but the others all had Borngray II pray to Corellon and return their bodies to their previous selves. The EV rewarded each of the battle leaders with 25,000 gp. Borngray II (5,000 gp) and Gabe donated (5,000 gp) a lot of their money to the drow survivors to help them build up a new city. Blueblood III used her reward money to throw a huge festival/celebration in the High Forest to honor the fallen fey and elves.

They decided they had reached a point in which they should be able to take some downtime to rest and train for future endeavors.

1378: Down Time
RPG Date: 1498 DR, Month 5, Day 28
After the 2 weeks of partying in the forest were over, the group decided to take down time. They split up the group loot from all of their adventuring (22,800 gp each).

Borngray II donated 10,000 gp to the Evermeet elf families.
Blueblood III had the Lady of the Lady arrange for a magic tattoo of anti-scry.
Sartha decided to lead the new drow village as it was being rebuilt, as the Archmage of New Menzoberranzan, spending 20,000 gp helping them; last time the Borngray brothers had already donated 10,000 gp to help the drow resettle.
Gabe and Karva upgraded their weapons/armor.

The Theymarsh lighthouse will become the “House of Light” as a temple-keep (150’ diameter circular tower) with special magic vault (located behind a secret door in the basement) only known of by Borngray II, Sartha (who spent 10,000 gp) , Karva (with the masonry skills), and Blueblood III (who spent 23,288 gp to magically protect the vault – from scrying, teleportation, and location of magic items); Borngray II spent 50,000 gp on the construction of the temple-keep and another 10,000 gp recruiting people to live and work there. They decided to store the Thorn-gems in the new vault.

During the 8.5 months:
Blueblood III learned the elven language. She sent 2 fey to the volcano island to search for Ploop. EV council meeting: (1) bards to spread word about EV being good/Corellon followers and (2) politicking to remove laws against EV membership.  (Discussed the existence of the Eld/red elves). EV Clans & Sea Elf Island! 2 join in general and 8 want to learn the religion of Corellon. Borngray II realized the possibility of an underwater expansion of the “House of Light” in Theymarsh. Winged Elves: 4 in general and 4 who want to learn the ways of Corellon. Thus they realized they could add a “nest” area to the top of the lighthouse.
16 Clan Groups visited

*2 pixies were turned into vampires, told the group about Ploop going to the Abyss, to Orcus’ old lair to meet with his guardians there.
*Of the newly trained clerics (50% go home at the end of their training – 44 left, half of them travel amongst the EV to spread the word, which would leave 22 at the temple); 4 Cormanthor clerics stay to run the temple;

And they visited Gael at Reyal Keep, where she had been pregnant and gave birth to twins (1 boy and 1 girl).

1079: Fighting Ploop’s Vampire Forces
The Lady of the Lady told them about the importance of Barovia and how the multiverse worked.

They fought: 1 skeleton, 6 vampire spawn, 1 half-orc vampire lord, 1 death cleric, and Ploop – killed Ploop. Random encounter with a lich.

Freed the soul of Anarchocles, destroyed the Wand of Orcus, ended with plans to go assault Yeenoghu’s lair in the Abyss.

1380: Fighting Overlord Gouzrak
The group assembled at the Blueblood cave home in the High Forest, with Fluter and the children there. Melany, servant of Malcanthet, arrived with invitations for them to go to Shindilavri, saying Malcanthet didn’t want them to all go die fighting Yeenoghu.

Shindilavri! Met with Malcanthet.

Theymarsh: found the spies of Malcanthet in town (2 sages, 2 paladins in the guard, and 2 bards at the EV tavern). +1 day. Resurrected Ploop. Discussed friendship. Said goodbye to Anarchocles, encouraging him to go out into the world.

To cavern with the mural – released Overlord Gouzrak, talked with him for a long time (with discussion of the Starstrands and Shadowstrands), realized he had a ritual book written in Ancient Thornian, killed him in awesome wizard battle.

Back to Theymarsh, got Sage, had Oran send Twigs to take Sage and ritual book to the Feypatch – to Shindilavri – reported back to Malcanthet and worked out a deal; she was frustrated that now all of their fates were in the hands of Oran (who she looked down on because he was weaker than Blueblood I, her former lover); she agreed to go with her army to kill Yeenoghu and kill him herself if needed while the PC group conducted the ritual – once Oran released the Sage – but for now, she gave up the thorn-stone inside of her to the Ilitu women to be put in the vault there with her other stones. Malcanthet also suggested Ploop start worshipping her.

1381: Fighting in the ruins of Suldolphur
From Before:
*Sage in FeyPatch, decoding the ancient Thornia ritual book.
*Malcanthet waiting, figuring out how/when to attack Yeenoghu.
*Blueblood III assumed she would know if Yeenoghu attacked Oran’s Palace
*Ended at Malcanthet’s place

This time:
Divided up loot. Karva discussed Watchtower, reminded the group she was a part of Meanderson’s Merchant Mercenaries.
*1 Group of Gnolls with 1 Ogre Master attempting to summon Yeenoghu
*9 Hyenas, a pack of Gnolls, 1 Gnoll/Half-Black Dragon, 1 Halfling Druid, 1 Adult Black Dragon
*Halfling surrendered, map was to City of Brass
*Used rock fungus to contact Malcanthet to tell her about it so she would know that the group thinks Yeenoghu was going to invade the City of Brass for its weapons and/or to take over her palace there.

1382: Fighting at the Warehouse in the City of Brass
The group fought the eneies at the warehouse: 2 Bronze Golems, 12 Azers, 1 Bodak, 1 Huge Fire Elemental, 2 Large Fire Elementals, 4 Medium, 7 Small; Male Noble Marid Bard named Shazathared; 1 Brass Juggernaut; 4 Efreet; 6 Fire Mephits; 6 Red Kobolds; 1 Barbed Devil in charge of the slaves; 1 Djinni named Iavesk; 1 Noble Salamander; 10 Lesser Salamanders; 22 Fire Cult Lizardfolk; 1 8-Headed Pyrohydra; 10 Fire Giants; 12 Hell Hounds; 6 Magmins; 1 Tough Old Dire Tiger; 12 Giant Dragonflies; 1 Male Genasi; 1 Adult Red Dragon.

The adventured ended with Sartha teleporting the group back out into the City of Brass market.

1383: Fighting for Shendelavri in the City of Brass
Spoke with Noble Salamander Shazathared, informed about red dragon; they assumed the group was working for Malcanthet and said her palace would not be standing by the end of the day. They returned to Waterdeep – to Watchtower, where they noticed people painting the building blue.

They spent a long time acquiring a vorpal sword for Blueblood III. +1 day (slept as VIP at the Watchtower). They teleported back to Theymarsh.

Stuff, stuff, Malcanthet’s Palace in Shendelavri – then to her courtyard in the City of Brass to fight: Ancient Red Dragon with 6 Salamanders and 4 Fire Elementals. They got the dragon hoard and had Malcanthet’s people planeshift them back to Theymarsh to rest.

*Gnome Ranger/Druid made a mushroom mansion for Blueblood III – she had her family move there!

Next time: Sage will be ready, armies ready – attacking Yeenoghu / ritual! + recruit a dozen fey to live in that forest.

1384: Fighting Yeenoghu & his inner sanctum defenses
The plan came together with all of their forces working to kill Yeenoghu and get the last of the thorn-stones. Ploop was killed and a Hyena formed out of his dead body. All together, they killed: 3 goristros, 1 marilith, 32 gnoll "Fangs of Yeenoghu," 2 glabrezu demons, 1 balor demon, 4 large gnoll fiends, 1 large hyena fiend, and Yeenoghu himself!

1385: Emergency Meeting
*While waiting for the Sage of Theymarsh to return with the info about the ritual…
*Sell/divide up the loot (gave magic swords and spears to elf clerics and battleaxes and greatswords to Feymarsh army; Ploop’s 30,000 gp given to Ryali’s people/church – Karva delivering when she goes)
*Gabe is romancing the Princess of Feymarsh
*Karva is going to negotiate with Watchtower
*Sartha wants a seat on the Eldreth Veluuthra’s Leadership Council as one of the Blade Lords
*Malcanthet sent an ambassador to get her items, but the group reminded her that it’s supposed to be a direct trade later.
*Eldreth Veluuthra sent a message for an emergency meeting:

News: The Knights of Anarchocles were planning to assassinate the Blade Lords and disband their organization; will offer to help start up and lead a new organization under a new name. Should the Blade Lords strike first, offer to meet with them, or wait for their attack?

Talindra, Borngray II, and Blueblood III got Sartha, decided to fight in a cave. They tried talking with Anarchocles and 2 Planetars and 1 Deva, but ended up battling them and having to kill them. The angelic forces killed Torrynar and Saeval.

1386: Preparing for the Ritual
Borngray II, Talindra, Blueblood III, & Sartha rested at the retreat after verifying the deaths of fellow council members. The next morning they had a council meeting with Talindra, Blueblood III, and Borngray II.

Sartha teleported them, with the dead bodies, to their museum in Waterdeep, where they met with the High Curators. Asked for a meeting with the other 14 clan lords, to be arranged in a week’s time. Talindra went off.

Sartha took Blueblood and Borngray to the Feywild to meet with Oran. The Lead Inquisitor from the Alpha Omega Organization was there and asked them questions.

Blueblood wanted to go visit her grandfather, but didn’t. AO guy left to setup a meeting with agents from the Starstrands and Shadowstrands; Sartha left to go talk with Talindra and the High Curator of the EV Museum. Hiral came in to guard them.

The AO guy returned with purple cloak lady (Farlaxia) and white robe guy (Brelun the Good); they ended meeting with offers to join both organizations, but the AO guy was upset and left (implying he would try to get someone to intervene); Farlaxia threatened them, Brelun didn’t. Hiral spoke with them about his family and Moradin; Blueblood asked Hiral to have Moradin send a dwarf army to help protect Feymarsh.

Blueblood & Borngray plane-shifted to the Theymarsh Temple; Blueblood got Thorn keys, etc from the secret vault; Gabe met up with them (he and the Princess were talking about potential wedding dates); Blueblood used the mushroom house to commune with Zuggtmoy/Malcanthet.

Karva and Sartha showed up – Karva with Ryali symbols all over here. They all talked. They went to Zug’s palace and traded out stuff, getting the final Thorn gems. They went to Oran’s place (again), and met with the Sage of Theymarsh. They discussed the ritual.

When they get back, they sent Sartha to get Talindra; Gabe went to organize the defenses; Karva and the Sage went with Blueblood and Borngray to the Cathedral (with the old dwarf leader of the Cathedral). Blueblood wrote a note for Talindra and gave it to an EV bard.

The dwarf leader of the cathedral was de-mind-scrambled by the Sage and explained more about the ritual. Blueblood and Karva took the Sage and Dwarf to the vault while Borngray waited for Talindra and Sartha – once they arrived, Borngray gave Talindra the list of new Blade Lords (explaining that he would likely be stepping down, but Gabe should be added, as well as: King Melandrach, Sartha, and together they would need to appoint a 5th member (probably a Fey ambassador/nature-oriented individual). Talindra agreed to the suggestion. They also agreed to make a rule to not have any balenorn/undead members.

Blueblood left the Green Blade with his family while saying goodbye to them. She also left her adventuring journal with the previous generation’s ones as well. They all then went to the PM/TR family keep and said goodbye to Gale and Thane.

They then went to say goodbye to Kya the inn owner, but she decided to go with them (since Borngray finally admitted his desire to court her).

Going into the Cathedral:
Borngray II, Blueblood III, Karva, The Sage, The Old Dwarf Cleric, Kya Kaysu + the other 5 cleric leaders from the Cathedral stopped when they were preparing to do the ritual…

1387: The Results of the Ritual
From talking about the 2 sides of each stone, the Sage realized they should do the ritual in reverse to channel the “good side” of the duality of the stones.

*Battle: A Shar representative showing up saying the Purple Hammer was a tool of her master Shar. When they did the ritual, the mists of Ravenloft saved them from becoming trapped in newly restored Thornia. When Borngray II hammered in the rose stone, it created a huge flame from the purple hammer and its smoke swirled around Borngray and seemed to pull him into the rock. Blueblood was next – they were in a flat area with gray stone under them and they felt the heat of the burning fire nearby and saw so much smoke that they couldn’t see clearly more than 15’ in front of them – but from the smoke emerged Zuggtmony/Malcanthet who was angry – she yelled out “You tricked me! You’re trying to steal my power and keep the treasure for yourselves!” (She attacked; they had to kill the Zuggtmoy form and then the Malcanthet form – thus freeing the beautiful and kind Shindelavri, who said she must go – she didn’t belong there – she thanked them and said it is time for her to rejoin Corellon and that she could no longer interfere there); Karva appeared.
*They were taken to the Domains of Dread, which were capable of holding a reality within them without destroying the universe to do so (that’s what’s been going on – Ryali needed the Domains of Dread available, but Shar had power over them in the Shadowfell so she needed that changed and a deal worked out with “Death”/the “Dark Powers” and AO to make this happen [the new home of the Domains of Dread will no longer be the Shadowfell, but instead reformed Toril, brought back by this ritual].

The team found themselves in the Domains of Dread, at the “Death House” where they had to solve the mystery of the 2 children there at the haunted house and kill the monsters inside.

After resting, the group left the clerics behind at this house (and the Sage too, who drew them a map to Ancient Barovia, where they hoped to go confront Strahd)…

1388: Ancient Barovia
Ancient Barovia. They found Strahd.

Strahd told them the only way to commune with “The Dark Powers” (a.k.a Death & his council) was to be Domain Lords – and the only way to do that is to kill Domain Lords and take their power/position from them, which was very rare. But who was in control of Restored Toril? Ryali? Shar? AO?

They realized they were inside a version of the Domains of Dread inside of the restored Toril version of the universe. They killed a Far Realmsian version of Fraz-Urb’Luu. They found the raw chaos energy hidden in ancient Barovia and they used it as a weapon to destroy the Domains of Dread inside of this reality. They ended up on the restored world of Toril, which had evolved over time without the Spellplague having happened.

1389: A New Reality
Borngray II, Blueblood III, Karva, Kya, and their sage friend hired a wizard to teleport them to Candlekeep. They dropped off the sage to learn about this world. Borngray II & Kya went to the library in Waterdeep and hired Darnit the Half-Elf to help them learn about general world history for the last 150 years while Blueblood III meditated to Oran; a pixie calling himself Mr. Green Pixie visited with her. Together as a triumvirate – Karva, Borngray II, & Blueblood III bought the Mere of Dead Men for 550,000 gp (183,333 gp each). They named their new kingdom Thornia (with plans to make parts of it the Feywild, Karvaland, etc.).

They anticipated the swamp would have its master lich, 2 black dragon twins, and a green dragon – all of which their ancestors had dealt with back on their version of this world. They also interacted with Pexlin, the Lord & Master of the Wizard’s Guild. They Sent Kya off with 10,000 gp to buy a small shop. The rest of them went with the wizard to the Mere of the Dead Men to Naerytar Castle. There was a new sprite familiar called “Spriggan.”

1390: The Retirement of TFK
Borngray II, Blueblood III, Karva, & Pexlin arrived in the Mere of Dead Men: Naerytar Castle – where they found this reality’s version of Borngray I. They explained where they had come from and Borngray I was happy to treat them like family, thus allowing Borngray II a chance to have his father again.

They defeated the elemental lords that battled them. Blueblood III chose to be the Lady of Air while Karva chose Earth. Blueblood III talked with Oran and switched from being his servant to becoming his lover. She also worked for Corellon through the EV of this world. Oran and Blueblood II ended up having 4 kids (over time; they were blue air genasi). Karva used her powers over the earth element to destroy the Mere of Dead Men’s cloning facilities and to kill Lossarwyn.

Borngray II, Borngray I, Kya, the clerics, and the sage found a way to leave this reality and returned back home to Theymarsh on K-T; Blueblood III and Karva stayed behind. On Kalibruhn-Toril, Borngray II brought the alien Borngray I to his mother Glora (who was happy to get to know the man who was very similar to the man she originally met as Borngray I); Glora and this Borngray I easily fell in love with each other. They brought the family together.

Corellon sent Borngray II (who brought along his romantic interest Kya) to Shindelavri’s “sexy elf world” to spread the world of Corellon’s faith (with Shindelavri’s permission, of course).

Logs 1351-1375: Fey Knights Part 1

The RPG Saga continued, based mostly in Toril's Lake of Steam Region:
(Because we wanted a break from the Sword Coast)

The map below depicts pre-1385 times:

The Spellplague caused the water levels to change (1385-1485). See below:

The Sundering events of 1485-1488 caused the water levels to change back so that the land once again looks very much like the top map (but without many of the old cities/villages). The major cities that remain in the area are Mintar (which used to be run by the Church of Bane), Ankhapar (major trading city), and Derlusk (known for its Bard Academies and Bard Competitions). There are also the Border Kingdoms, though they have changed hands so much over the years that local cartographers recommend exploring the area to find out the current rulers/etc. The port town of Theymarsh (the name derives from a founder long ago with a speech impediment who wanted to name it Feymarsh after the Fey-blooded creatures from nearby woods).

1351: Welcome to Theymarsh
Sources: Rise of the Runelord Part 1
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Years ago…
Background Info about the TR/PM Family:
Long ago, TR & PM’s children were: 1) a male wizard named Torvald Maximillion (who was the father of Kanesia, a druid of Silvanus like her grandmother, and Torvis, a paladin of Tyr, who was sometimes jokingly called “T3” because he resembled his grandfather so much); 2) a female cleric of Tyr named Ardelia “Lia” (who married Aelix, aka DL II and moved to live with him); 3) a female ranger of Meilikki, Jaenelle (who went off adventuring with and married a half-elf bard trained by Merry, named Joss Dyer); and 4) a male wizard, Mychael, who idolized PM’s younger brother Dain. Mychael married Breaca Feahan, a fighter/wizard trained at DL’s mage academy.

Lia and DL2 had DL3, whose son became DL4, who had 4 boys: the first 2 died in combat, the 3rd became DL5, and the 4th ran off (and was presumed dead, but actually hid from his family under the alias of Baron Tessen and fathered Azel, Azel’s sister, and Azel’s brother); DL5 was the father to Daen (who became “DL6” when he was crowned king).

The main TR/PM family that stayed at their keep continued their family line. Torvis was born in 1404, with his son being born in 1424, eventually calling himself T4 (even though he understood that his grandfather wasn’t T2 and that his father being called “T3” was technically a nickname; he wanted the connection to the great hero of the past). That caused the next generation to be led by T5 (born in 1442), and the following generation to be an only child: T6 (who was born in 1464, and thus 27 years old in 1491 when Queen Morwen Daggerford-Stabler dropped off a bunch of money and kids for T6 to take care of).

Having barely survived the recent wars in the Sembia region, and not having gotten married or had kids of his own, T6 was ill-prepared to raise 8 kids: Azel & Ylara’s oldest son Thane, Daen’s quarter-elf twins (boy and girl), Daen’s younger quarter-elf girl, and Azel & Ylara’s quadruplets (the result of a fertility potion: 3 boys and 1 girl). T6 used the money from the Stablers to not only rebuild the defenses of the keep, but also to hire nannies and tutors for the children.

As of the beginning of the year 1497, Thane and Daen’s twins were 10 years old while the other children were 8 years old. T6 was still having trouble being a single father with 8 adopted children.

Background for Glora’s Children:
The children of Dralmorer Borngray and Glora Holimion grew up to be a male cleric of Corellon named Glordeth Dralmorer Borngray (going by his middle name to honor his father), a male fighter named Gabreth “Gabe” Mraeritar Borngray (which meant Dangerous, Vigilance of the People), and a female wizard (trained by Manthor, who had been trained by Me’Urra) named Gaelatria “Gael” Mahri Borngray (which meant Pegasus Dance, Mage Friend). When they turned 100, they decided to move out of the Feywild-Patch they grew up in; Oran the Green Lord had one of his agents teleport Glora and Manthor to the Sapphire Coast and another agent teleport the children to go join their 2nd-cousin Daria (since they wanted to go out adventuring).

(Above: Borngray I)

Background for Daria “Blueblood III” Thoron:
Daria lived with Jekk Ironfist and Jamna Gleamsilver until she was 15, when they gave her the books about the adventures of her father and grandfather; she left a note and ran off to adventure. She joined a ship’s crew as their cook, with the captain training her to be a rogue. She stayed on that ship for years, not realizing that the captain was using his position as a paid pirate-killing-mercenary to kill his enemies (for he was actually a pirate). When she found out about her mentor being a pirate, she left the ship.

(Above: Daria "Blueblood III")

RPG Date: 1497, Month 3, Day 15
Glora and Manthor went and spoke with T6, who revealed that he had adopted the children (since they were family). He also told her that he had a guy in Waterdeep named Gee who was looking into the political situation and whether there was any evidence of wrongdoing by the Queen of the United Kingdom of the Sword Coast. Glora and Manthor went to Greystem II to speak with him. She insisted they rename their guard so there wouldn’t be any confusion. She asked Greystem II to get Radcliff to come visit with her. She decided to stay at Cobalt Castle. Manthor decided to stay at the manor.

At Theymarsh: Daria (Bludeblood III) had spent the night at the Thirsty Dragon TaverInn. Dralmorer II (called Borngray II), Gael, and Gabe showed up. They were all happy to see each other. Daria explained she went by the name Charity. They caught up some and talked with the owner of the Thirsty Dragon TaverInn, who told them about the festivities going on that day. The town was holding a festival with fun contests. During the ceremony to consecrate the new Cathedral of 6 Faiths, Goblins attacked the city. Daria, the 3 Borngrays, and a half-orc mercenary named Grum defended the villagers and managed to kill 25 goblins. Sheriff Tallshield showed up saying she had killed the other goblins assaulting the town.

The group earned the respect of many of the villagers, received free rooms at the inn for a week, were invited to go boar hunting with Lord Fern Rabbiton in a couple of days, and were thanked by the dwarf high cleric of the cathedral. A local shopkeeper’s daughter tried to get Borngray II to go to her dad’s shop’s cellar to “kill giant rats” (though it sounded more like flirting). Daria tried to slip out to steal something, got spotted by a guard, acted drunk, and then went back to The Thirsty Dragon TaverInn. She wrote in her book “Adventure #1…”

1352: Deputies of Theymarsh v. Woen Kaysu
Sources: Rise of the Runelord Part 2
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1497 DR, Month 3, Day 16
Borngray II, Gabe, Gael, and Charity (Daria “Blueblood III”) heard Kya Kaysu (the elf owner of The Thirsty Dragon Taver-Inn) get chewed out by her angry father. She told them about her half-brother Woen (who was disowned by their father) and how she just wanted to live her own life, without his old ways of thinking bogging her down; her father owned the glassworks company in the town.

Sheriff Tallshield showed up, said she had been contacted by the cathedral about them finding that one of the graveyard masoleum’s doors had been broken into; it belonged to the wealthy Jarvey family. Charity suggested that the previous day’s attack might have been a distraction and that this was what the unknown villains were really after. They went to investigate and ended up having to kill 4 skeletons that were left behind in the looted crypt.

In investigating the matter, the group got themselves appointed as official Deputies; they also went around getting to know a bunch of the villagers/shop owners. Sheriff Tallshield personally spoke with the Jarvey family (that had the dead bodies stolen from them) and then went to deal with a goblin that was hiding in a family’s house, in a child’s closet.

Sheriff Tallshield rejoined the group when they found out that Kya had gone to meet up with her brother Woen, which had the servant at The Thisty Dragon very concerned that she would be kidnapped and/or killed. They went to the Glassworks to rescue Kya, where they found that Kya’s father had been killed by her half-brother and she had been tied up. The group had to fight through and kill 4 goblin thugs, 4 goblin bosses, and Kya’s evil half-elf brother. Unfortunately, Sheriff Tallshield died in battle and the group barely survived. They did save Kya though, and got their hands on her brother’s journal (which discussed his evil girlfriend who was trying to turn herself into some sort of powerful demon).

The group rested after meeting up with Mayor Feelgood and “The Gnome Ranger” Rummi Sealeaf. The info they gained led them to some catacombs at a nearby abandoned village in the woods. The Gnome Ranger joined them as they busted in and killed 11 zombies and 3 hags. The tiefling necromancer escaped with a teleport scroll. They did have a clue; the villain’s other base was a place called Rosebud.

The group returned to the village and asked the sage to look up Rosebud. They found out that the half-orc in the shack across the road from the sage’s place had contacted the Wealdath to let them know that the Borngrays were in Theymarsh.

The group was resting, but they turned in their profits with Kya’s money and part of the town’s funds so they could have Sheriff Tallshield resurrected. They also went boar hunting with Lord Fern Rabbiton, who (like several of the men in town) had taken a liking to Charity; together, the group killed 2 boars and celebrated back at The Thirsty Dragon.

1353: Deputies of Theymarsh v. Rosebud Keep
Sources: Rise of the Runelord Part 3
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1497 DR, Month 3, Day 19
With Borngray II, Gabe, Gael, and Charity staying at The Thirsty Dragon – they found out Kya, grateful for all they had done, had extended their free week to a permanent free stay either at the taver-inn or at her family’s manor (which she has inherited and intended to put up for sell). Gael had been having strange feelings about enjoying killing monsters, but thinking that it was wrong she enjoyed it so much. The servant told the group that Lord Fern Rabbiton had traveled out to his family’s old abandoned estate in one of the nearby abandoned villages to try to fix up the place, in order to impress Charity.

On their morning walk, the group met the blue-skinned Lady Se’ern the half-drow fortune teller in town (whose presence explained why so many of the town’s people have thought blue-skinned Charity was a half-drow). She offered them a discount if they dropped by for her services.

The group went to visit with the sage, but stopped at the Half-Orc Grumm’s shack when they saw the door broken and the mercenary dead. It turned out 5 Pixies were behind the attack; they whispered to the Borngrays that they did it to protect them, hoping to stop the others in the Wealdath from finding out that they were in Theymarsh. The group contacted the patrol guards and let them know about the dead body; Charity destroyed the Pixie footprints on the window so the guards wouldn’t find out about them, but Sealeaf told them she had spotted the Pixies.

They spoke to the sage, who explained that Rosebud was the old nickname for a moathouse keep in one of the abandoned villages in Goblin territory. Sealeaf had already told the group that the 5 local Goblin tribes had allied together – which meant they had a powerful boss. The group realized it must be the necromancer they were after. The sage also asked them to look for any evidence of an ancient civilization called Thornia; he had spent his life research the possibility of its existence in this area, but his colleagues laughed at his work and said they thought he was wrong (it was why he came to Theymarsh and moved into the building next to the lighthouse ruins). “Mad Dog” the armor-smith showed a romantic interest in Charity, even offering to marry her.

The group decided to go get a boat and sail down a river, into the Goblin territories of the nearby woods, to get to Rosebud Keep; Charity won the boat gambling with local fishermen. It took them the entire day to get there. They tried assaulting the place at night, but encountered heavy resistance; they had to kill: 3 druid goblins with 12 wolves. They rested until morning, when they then tried again and had to kill: 6 gnolls with 1 gnoll pack lord and 1 bugbear.

After that battle, they made their way into the courtyard where they fought the 5 goblin tribe bosses, killing them all and taking their leadership medallions. The human mercenary Orik gave them his gold and armor in exchange for being allowed to leave without being killed; he also gave them intel about the 3 female slaves and the passage down below where the tiefling necromancer waited with 3 shadows and a summoned shadow demon. They went down and killed those enemies. The Necromancer had a necklace with a rose encircled by its stem with thorns on it.

The underground area had a huge pit trap that almost killed the Gnome Ranger. They rescued her and destroyed a newly erected shrine and statue to Yeenoghu. They also found an ancient statue of a robed/hooded individual with the same rose/thorns symbol on it. The group spent the rest of the day traveling back to Theymarsh. They told the sage about their findings and he was very happy to have confirmation of his beliefs.

Borngray II and Charity convinced Sealeaf to take the goblin leadership medallions and go assume leadership of the tribes so that she could direct them to stop raiding and find new meaning in their lives. While Sealeaf initially hesitated, she eventually gave into their plan and realized how much it could help everyone in the local community. Sealeaf bid them farewell for now.

Sheriff Tallshield was pleased that the group completed their investigation and suggested they could take some vacation time if they liked. She could also use their help patrolling the dock area and such, but she said she would consider them her special forces “Alpha Team.” The group considered taking some down time to rest; Gael could make some scrolls or potions with the money they have accrued from adventuring.

1354: The Politics of Glora v. Queen Morwen
Sources: Curse of the Crimson Throne Part 1
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1497 DR, Month 3, Day 19
Glora and Manthor knew that Greystem II was contacting King Radcliff Stabler about a meeting, but they didn’t want to sit around doing nothing while they waited so they went to Bluestone Tower (with the teleport portals) and hired Thran Shatterborn (dwarf paladin) as a bodyguard; they also paid Thoron security to send 3 human rangers to Daggerford to do surveillance (and see what they could find out about the mysterious illness that killed Jalaine and Haelyn Lenor, as well as find out who the last person was to see Willow Lenor).

Glora and Manthor explained the situation to Thran as they walked through Waterdeep to get to The Adventurer’s Shop to meet up with Lord T6’s contact Gee. When they arrived, out in the street, they could see through the window: The half-elf Urmai Gee and his adopted half-elf daughter (also called Gee) were both killed by a pit fiend and 4 elder salamander elementals that teleported in. Glora banished the pit fiend and 2 of the salamanders teleported away with the dead bodies. The shop exploded/burned down. Thran helped Glora and Manthor kill the other 2 salamanders and get the locals to safety.

Waterdeep guards and the fire brigade showed up, put out the spreading fires, and questioned the group. Royal Bluecloak Guards arrived, letting the group know that King Stabler and his wife Queen Morwen were shopping a couple of streets over and would like to meet with them. Glora was suspicious that the guards knew they were there, but the group went to the meeting. They cleared out a shop and spoke inside. Radcliff explained that Fenwick no longer existed and that the territory was sold to Trolls, thus there was nothing for the children to inherit; legally, the United Kingdom of the Sword Coast was a new kingdom and that was why his son was the sole heir to the throne.

Queen Morwen offered Glora 1.5 million gp and to be appointed Governor of her territory if she sold it to them; Glora said she would consider the offer, but it was obvious she didn’t want to accept it. Morwen also sent King Melandrach to the Feywild to get Aldea to agree to sell her portion on a contingency that Glora sold hers (or died). It was a tense meeting with the royal jester/advisor Lady Irony the tiefling there (with strange bug eyes in the palms of her hands), as well as Queen Morwen’s 2 personal efreeti guards. From the conversation, the group also learned that Queen Morwen had a spy at Reyal Keep watching over the 8 adopted children.

Glora, Manthor, and Thran went to have several more meetings during the next couple of days: Alagarthas and Aldea explained that they and King Melandrach had been manipulated (so Aldea signed over a Writ of Proxy Voting to Glora); the group realized they needed more council members to protect Glora’s life; Greystem set in motion getting T6 and the children to town; Glora convinced Prince Abadda Moonglamaer (with family connections in Evermeet who, it turned out, were now allies with the Borngrays there – specifically the Uncle of Glora’s deceased husband) of New Illefarn City to pay 100,000 gp for a seat on the Countil; Glora convinced the dragonborn Mayor Auriferous Yarin of Tinker Town (related to Holic/Tyra, who spoke of a hidden Machinefolk army beneath the town, with expenses having gone to building up their base and defenses) to join the Council for 100,000 gp; the group convinced T6 to join the council, bring the children to the Fey Patch to grow up fast, and to leave behind a proxy vote for Glora. They also got King Radcliff to attend the Council meeting.

During that time they found out that Queen Morwen’s spy was the half-elf bard that had been hanging around T6 and the children. Thran and the newly recruited paladin “Cousin,” a distant cousin of Moonglamaer, captured her - but T6 pointed out that being evil wasn’t a crime and they didn’t have any evidence of wrongdoing so they had to let her go. She ran off in the port city.

During the Council Meeting, Radcliff saw all of Glora’s political manipulations come to fruition as she used her votes to get T6I onto the council, then added in Prince Moonglamaer and Mayor Yarin. Even though they had learned that Jamna was the recently elected Mayor of New Leilon, they didn’t invite her (because they weren’t sure they could trust her, especially with so many tieflings and former Fenwick residents living in New Leilon). Radcliff went along with all of the voting since he was powerless to stop it. They also gave the Chief Administrator the power to give a tiebreaker vote in cases in which there’s an even split in the voting. Afterward, Radliff and Glora had a personal discussion in which he explained that his wife was not going to be happy with these changes.

Manthor and T6 took the 8 adopted children (Thane, D7, and their siblings) to go to the Feywild Patch for their education, training, and preparation for their eventual return (to possibly reclaim their family’s lands/power/titles) after 8-10 years inside/months outside; T6 left his proxy vote with Glora, giving her a total of 3 votes for any future Council Meetings.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1497 DR, Month 3, Day 19
10 Months of Downtime:
Charity learned medium armor proficiency while teaching infernal to Borgngray II. She also spent time hanging out with Mad Dog the smith (convincing him to let her use some half-plate armor for now and pay him 800 gp later). Charity mailed a letter to Jekk letting him know that she was ok and adventuring “in the south.” Borngray II sent a message to his mother to let her know where they were and that they were safe and well, working for the town of Theymarsh. Gabe enjoyed being a town guard so much that he went into rotation as a town guard, trying to get promoted to an important position within the system. Gael took a job working for the sage, working as his assistant, getting herself access to the information he had been researching. The Gnome Ranger rallied the goblins together and has them rebuilding one of the ruined villages to be a “respectful” goblin village where people could go trade with them.

Glora was mostly involved in politics for those 10 months. She and her paladin buddies (Thran and the Moonglamear cousin) met with Greystem to discuss the money being distributed to the council members. They talked about the keeps every 5 miles along the borders. They also discussed the inevitability of a war breaking out and possibilities for strategies/tactics. Glora wanted to stir rebellions in Neverwinter and Waterdeep while also preparing a mercenary force to be available to help the Reyal children reclaim their family territories in Fenwick and Daggerford (and possibly Baldur’s Gate, where their claim would just be political).

Glora decided she wanted to raise taxes 5% and charge non-citizens a tariff for coming through and trading with the additional money going to the shareholders. Thran the Dwarf Paladin decided he wanted to go to Neverwinter to squash the crime there and get political support for him, to try to take over the city. They also decided to hire bards to spread positive messages of unity for the Sapphire Coast.

Thran headed out to deal with the thieves in Neverwinter (along with his Moradin allies that he recruited). Glora spoke with Jamna (they discussed their families, noting that Jekk was out looking for Charity); Jamna explained that she thought it was possible that Mephistopheles was indirectly ruling the area through Queen Morwen.

Glora had a council meeting called in which they officially voted in the new taxes, with Radcliff opposed. She also brought up that Radcliff was technically the general and admiral in charge of the Sapphire Coast military and thus they voted to remove him from power – which upset him. Glora fulfilled her promise of checking on the family on a regular basis via a wizard from Moonglamaer. She visited with Roy Bluestone about hiring mercenaries.

Charity, Borngray II, Gael, and Gabe received an invitation to a dinner being hosted by their mother (delivered by a pixie). They got the local retired wizard to teleport them to the houses Charity grew up at on the coast of New Leilon. They teleported to the dinner party – which became somewhat awkward with all of the guests, including them and: Glora, her guards, Thran, Prince Moonglamaer, Mayor Yarin, Jamna, King Radcliff, Queen Morwen, and little red-eyed 5-year old Maldwyn II (who was actually a tiefling with the illusion of a human on him). Charity tried to get herself an invitation to go to Evermeet, where the Borngrays were invited to go. The discussion also included: the origins of tieflings, adventures of the Thoron family, Far Realms monsters (including green zombies that infect people and have poisonous spiders come out of them when killed), and much more.

The next day Charity checked with Prince Moonglamaer on the invitation to go to Evermeet and found out that he was interested in having a romantic relationship with Glora. He asked Charity to find out if she was finished mourning for her husband. Charity went to join in on breakfast with the Borngrays. She and Glora went out to the woods and picked up a satyr who called himself Fluter. Charity found out that Glora found Prince Moonglamaer to be a suitable prospect for romance but that this wasn’t the right time.

Glantaghen (the wizard who teleported Glora’s children) pointed out to Glora and her children that he didn’t think King Radlcliff was the father of Maldwyn II. He suggested they contact his old friend Elminster and said he could do that. Meanwhile, Charity told Prince Moonglamear what she found out and gave Fluter “magic” pants. Glantaghen teleported Charity, Fluter, and Glora’s children back to Theymarsh to finish their downtime.

1 month later:
King Radcliff led a group of people (with some elves from Moonglamaer) to go to Mulmaster to try to kill the tentacle monster there. Radcliff died during the battle (eaten by the monster) and it was not defeated. Queen Morwen did not have him resurrected; rather she declared her son the Duke of Daggerford and maintained rulership over all of the kingdom herself.

With the increase in taxes and the resdistribution of funds, Sapphire Coast council members were now getting 5,000 gp per month. The Fenwick area had about 100 Trolls. Glora paid 50,000 gp to have mercenaries kill all of the trolls and occupy the area – they called themselves The Trollslayers.

By the end of the 10 months:
Thran took control of Neverwinter as the new governor; Queen Morwen made it look like she appointed him, even though he really took the position of power.

At the end of the 10 months:
T6 and Manthor returned with T6’s 8 adopted children (who were all adults who had chosen their own adult names as per elven tradition). Jamah expressed interest in taking his claim as the true Duke of Daggerford and King of Fenwick. His twin sister Sylquara said she’d be happy to preside over Fenwick for him while he ruled in Daggerford. Their younger sister Raeronna said that, as a druid, she wasn’t interested in ruling over anyone. Thane (“T7”) said he didn’t feel a need to take over Baldur’s Gate, but his 4 genasi younger siblings were welcome to go try to attain political power there: Koahlian (Earth), Sumlian (Water), Shalia (Fire), and Therlian (Sky).

The 8 adopted Reyals all sounded excited about rooting out evil fiends in the area when Glora explained current events and that Mephistopheles was most likely the one behind all of this. Jamah thanked Glora and asked her what she would be doing after setting all of this up for them; she said that she would be preparing for potential backlash.

Back in Theymarsh, Fluter had setup a home in the woods outside of the town.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 1
In Theymarsh, at the Sage’s home, the group (Borngray II, Gabe, Charity, and Fluter) came to meet with Gael (who said she was thinking it might be time for her to end her questing days and accept a full-time position staying with the sage to uncover the secrets of Ancient Thornia). But before she had made up her mind the attractive Thane and Jamah showed up asking for help with the family rebellion against Queen Morwen of Daggerford/The United Kingdom of the Sword Coast.

Thane revealed that his 4 genasi siblings were in Baldur’s Gate, working the political angle, keeping them from sending military forces out to Fenwick. During the last 10 days, Thane and Jamah had led the mercenaries and took control of Dragonspear Castle while Jamah’s sisters stayed behind in the deserted Fenwick area with 20 mercenaries. They felt it was time to take Daggerford, but they needed to leave the mercenaries behind at Dragonspear Castle and were hoping Glora’s family would help.

The meeting was interrupted when 3 magical machines (Apparatuses of the Black Spider) attacked with a total of 6 dark elves piloting them (3 normal drow mercenaries and 3 elite drow). They were attacking the town, demanding that the Borngrays be handed over to them. The group joined together and defeated the enemies, only seriously damaging one of the machines.

The group used a teleport scroll to go to an area near Daggerford where the 3 Thoron Security rangers were waiting. Jamah said he would go into the city and openly make his political request to take over as the rightful heir with the 3 rangers guarding him while the others went to secretly take out the Cult of Mephistopheles in their base near the city. At the enemy cave/temple, the group took out the green zombies (when killed, large poison spiders came out of the dead bodies). They fought Lady Irony, her 4 tiefling cultists, and 3 bearded devils.

Charity, Fluter, Borngray II, Gael, Gabe, and Thane made their way into Queen Daggerford’s palace where a battle had already taken place: 2 of the Thoron Security rangers were already dead and the ash remains of efreeti were on the ground. There was a huge wall magical mirror that functioned as a portal to the 9 Hells, where Mavrokeras the Pit Fiend defended Queen Morwen and Prince Maldwyn II. Captured in a magical field were Elminster, Jamah, and the 3rd Thoron Security ranger.

The heroes knew the power of their enemies and tried using diplomacy. They found out that Queen Morwen justified her actions as making a deal with Mephistopheles to protect the Sword Coast from continued war with the 9 Hells, but it meant that she became a political pawn of his with the pit fiend in charge of overseeing the operation. Queen Morwen also claimed that Maldwyn II wasn’t actually her son, but rather the child of older brother and a succubus (thus why he was actually a tiefling).

Battle commenced and the heroes were victorious: the pit fiend was killed, the prisoners were freed, Queen Morwen surrendered herself to be arrested for her crimes, and Jamah agreed to watch over his cousin Maldwyn II, who technically had the better claim to rule over Daggerford. They agreed that the United Kingdom would be dissolved and each city-state would go back to ruling itself.

Elminster went to Glora and told her the result of the revolution and updated her about her own children’s success. Gael, romantically interested in Thane, agreed to go with him to Reyal Keep where she could officially help train wizards to fight alongside the paladins that were being trained. Gabe, Borngray II, Charity, and Fluter returned to Theymarsh (where Gabe was planning to stay on as a guard and the others expressed interest in continuing their adventures traveling the world). Charity and Fluter bagan their romantic reltionship.

1357: Deputies of Theymarsh v. Lord Rabbiton
Sources: Rise of the Runelords Part 4
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 3
The Gnome Ranger notified Borngray II, Gabe, Fluter, and Charity that Sheriff Tallshield needed their help; Theymarsh was suffering from a serial killer who had struck again. The group went to speak with Tallshield, who told them more details about the killings at the lumber mill. The murderer left a card professing love for Charity and calling himself “Lordship” thus causing the group to assume it was probably Lord Rabbiton (and not any of the other men who have thrown themselves at Charity). Tallshield said that the previous murders had been in the stables at the new Theymarsh Cathedral and that 1 person survived, but went insane and was at the nearby sanatarium out at one of the nearby ruined villages. The murdered people had the symbol of Thornia carved into them.

The group decided to forgo a trip to the sanitarium and instead went to find Lord Rabbiton at his family’s estate (which was also in the nearby village ruins). When they travelled out there, the group discovered that the goblins who had already restored 1 village as a home for themselves had started branching out and taking over this 2nd village as well. They befriended Bobo, 1 of the goblin workers and left Fluter there with him and the horses.

At Lord Rabbiton’s manor, they discovered that he had undead servants and wererat allies. They spent quite a while talking to him, became suspicious that he was going to poison the dinners of everyone but himself and Charity, and were careful in how they dealt with him. They learned the command word to stop the guardian spirit-chimera. They used the spirit-chimera to kill the 10 wererat allies who showed up. Lord Rabbiton admitted everything (he was working for an evil lamia priestess, the Lady of the 7 Thorns who was based in a bell tower in Ankapur and she had a sister she was competing with for sacrifices). Rabbiton killed his undead servants to prove his loyalty to Charity. Before being killed, the wererats told Borngray II about the sewer entrance to the bell tower and that the infamous “Flame Wight Ranger” was coming to conquer Theymarsh with 20 gnolls (the people would either be sacrified or made to serve the evil army).

In the morning: Borngray II, Gabe, Charity, and Lord Rabbiton took on the “Flame Wight Ranger” and the 20 gnolls (after Lord Rabbiton tried to flee on the spirit-chimera and Borngray II sent back the spirit-chimera). When the heroes were victorious, they collected the wight ranger’s magical firebow/longsword and jewelry. They convinced Lord Rabbiton to allow Borngray II to cure him of lycanthropy and turn himself in, for justice in Theymarsh. They went and picked up Fluter and he insisted that Bobo was now going to join them in their questing.

The group turned Lord Rabbiton in, to Sheriff Tallshield and asked for him to not be executed. Tallshield sent them to argue their case to Mayor Feelgood, who reluctantly agreed that if they went to Ankapur and eliminated the threat of the Lady of the 7 Thorns and all of her associates within the next year, then he would see to it that Lord Rabbiton spent his life in jail without being executed.

1358: The Mysterious Cousin Feelgood
Sources: Rise of the Runelords Part 5
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 4
Charity, Borngray II, Gabe, Fluter, and Bobo arranged transportation from Theymarsh to Ankhapur; Charity convinced the merchant captain of the Golden Hawk, Captain Kaza, to sail them across the Lake of Steam in exchange for a small payment. The group also worked as night crew since the main crew was scared of the legends of the halfing vampires (called “Bloody Hin”) on the volcano island in the middle of the Lake of Steam. They spotted one of the flying vampires, but did not pursue it since their goal was to get to Ankhapur, get info from Cousin Feelgood, and put an end to the evil plans of the lamia known as the Lady of the 7 Thorns.

The group enjoyed getting to know the merchant crew. Once they arrived in Ankhapur, they got to know some people at a local seedy tavern (called “The Ripe Pimpkin”) in the poor part of town. After a while, they decided to head to the political area – where the merchant council ruled the city. Before finding Cousin Feelgood, Charity spotted a gnome and just had to talk to him. Unfortunately, the gnome cartographer misunderstood and thought Charity was some kind of “woman of the night.” Fortunately, the gnome did know Cousin Feelgood and eventually introduced the group to him.

They explained the situation to Cousin Feelgood, who agreed to hire some mercenaries and help them stop the wererats in the sewers and the evil lamia (who was supposedly at one of the bell towers in the city). The nicest bell tower was under the Troll Bridge (which had a statue of a troll with a magic sword). That bell tower was made of stone and off limits for construction. The other bell towers were all old wooden structures that were off limits because they had been condemned and viewed as unsafe.

When Cousin Feelgood left his office to go hire mercenaries, the group got bored and realized they had been locked inside. They found a secret door that led to a passage with a hidden vault, storage room with lots of documents about business activities, and a spy area that looked into a private meeting room for official Merchant Council Secret Committee business. Not realizing the group had stumbled into a secret spy chamber, they opened the door and revealed themselves to a secret committee meeting.

At first the group was in trouble, but they were able to explain themselves and why they were there (to save the city from the wererats and lamia). Their actions caused the Merchants Council to realized Cousin Feelgood had betrayed them and had been spying on them. They exiled Cousin Feelgood and thanked the group for their actions by giving them each 100 gp and offering to help them with their quest.

The halfling leader of the Secret Committee hired mercenaries and organized a joint strike force to take on all of the bell towers and infiltrate the sewers all at the same time. Charity inspired his children to want to become adventurers. The group decided they wanted to be the team to go into the stone bell tower under Troll’s Bridge. Charity, Borngray II, Gabe, Fluter, and Bobo gathered outside of their Bell Tower and waited while the rest of the teams got into place…

1359: Deputies of Theymarsh v. The Lamia Sisters
Sources: Rise of the Runelords Part 6
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 9
Charity, Borngray II, Gabe, Fluter, and Bobo assaulted the stone bell tower of Akhapur. In a huge battle, with enemies comes down a spiral staircase that spanned 5 internal levels, the group took defeated: The lamia known as the Lady of the 7 Thorns, 1 flesh golem, 7 gnolls, 5 wererats, and 1 wizard (who failed to teleport out, was pulled down to the floor after being lassoed by Charity, and then ran away). Note: Bobo was killed during the assault.

The mercenaries made sure there were no more wererats in the sewers. For loot, the group got a magic crystal scrying ball that the Lady of the 7 Thorns had been using to communicate with her sister; Charity also got a special lamia dagger. From the loot, and a call from the lamia’s sister (who was a wizard), the group learned that the sister had put together an army of ogres, giants, and gnolls from the nearby mountains. Her forces had gathered at the ruins of Sudulphur and were ready to get on 3 ships and sail across the water to Theymarsh to take out the city for once and for all.

Since the group couldn’t teleport to Theymarsh themselves, they demanded that the Ankhapur Merchant’s Council arrange a teleport for them. Their new halfling ally with the council sent them to an old wizard’s place, where Charity started arguing with the wizard’s apprentice. The old wizard gave them a teleport scroll and Fluter used it to send them back to Theymarsh.

At Theymarsh, the group split up to talk to everyone they needed to get to in order to arrange for both a civilian evacuation and a military defense of the city. They told Mayor Feelgood the bad news about his cousin being exiled and probably in league with the evil lamia sisters.

Borngray II went to the Theymarsh Cathedral, where they invited him to join their Inner Circle of 7; they had already added banners for Borngray II’s deity Corellon to the Cathedral. Apparently the Inner Circle of the Theymarsh Cathedral had been hiding a special rock in their courtyard with a hole in the middle and a “swirling line with 7 triangles” on it. Borngray II explained the emergency situation and said they would deal with their meditation ceremony later, after the village was safe.

The group recruited the gnome tinkerer (who had fixed the spider tank-submarine), Glantaghen, the cleric of Silvanus, the cleric of Tempus, the cleric of Tymora, and “The Gnome Ranger” (who was technically now both a ranger and a druid with a giant eagle friend to fly on). While they planned the village defense, Sheriff Tallshield and Mayor Feelgood led the citizens on a march into the friendly goblin territory {where they would be safe).

The Theymarsh Defenders split into 3 groups and went out to sea to cause the 3 invading ships to sink with the crews drowning. The ship with the wizard lamia sister had a huge magical fireball cannon that almost took out Glantaghen. Charity and the Tymora cleric were in the spider submarine and took out the middle ship while the rest of the team flew around taking out the left and right ships. Unfortunately, the wizard lamia sister got in a little boat and managed to teleport away [with only 1 HP remaining], but the rest of the invaders all drowned as per the group’s plan.

After the battle, the group returned to Theymarsh and tried to get the village back to normal. The villagers returned. Charity asked the gnome tinkerer to look into the powers of the lamia daggers. Borngray II told the clerics he would join the Inner Circle. The group rested up for the night.

1360: The Secret of the 7 Thorns
Sources: Rise of the Runelords Part 7
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 10
In Theymarsh: Borngray II and Gabe went to the sage to discuss their clues on the Thornia situation only to find out that the excavation crew had cleared a path through the rubble of the old lighthouse ruins; they volunteered the group to go down and deal with whatever monsters and traps were guarding the ancient library that the sage was hoping was down there. During their visit, Glantaghen dropped by and expressed interest in knowing what the group was doing.

Charity and Fluter went from their forest home to the gnome tinkerer, found out a wizard was trapped in the magic flute, and left it with him to figure out how to free the wizard. They also discussed getting married; thus Fluter went off to the forest to find a way to get to the Feywild to see if he could find a way to turn Charity into a female satyr.

Borngray II went into the Theymarsh Cathedral to find out about the “Inner Circle” that he was invited to join. He went with the other active clerics into the inner courtyard and saw the special rock (which had the pattern of the ancient Thornia symbol, just with a hole in the middle where the rose should have been and holes to hold 7 triangle “thorns”). Charity went around shopping before meeting back up with her cousins Borngray II and Gabe; she insisted she wanted to now be called Blueblood III instead of Charity. Together, they hired Karva the dwarf fighter to help with their new quest.

Borngray II, Gabe, Blueblood III, and Karva went down into the lighthouse ruins and explored the revealed Yeenoghu Temple; they had to destroy 8 zombies and 1 flameskull. Blueblood III was almost killed by a 20’ trap with 3 strange poisonous snakes inside. They took a short rest and then used the lever they found to pull back the Sphere of Annihilation that was guarding the downward passage to the hidden library.

They copied the Thornia symbol’s 7 Thorn symbols, gathered the books, took the scrolls, and brought all of it to the sage. He said he and his assistants would probably need 10 days to read through everything. Blueblood III handed over the book about her grandfather’s adventures since there was a similarity between the 7 Thorn triangle symbols and Oerth’s Suel Power Mage Octych triangles at the passage under/near Maure Castle.

Borngray II met with Father Hudrin (the Nature Cleric/Druid officially in charge of the Theymarsh Cathedral) who revealed that the fey creatures of the region from long before the village was built, along with Silvanus (apparently), gave instructions for protecting the sacred stone in the inner courtyard. Those instructions had been passed down from generation to generation over time.

Blueblood III ended up visiting with Glantaghen, who privately revealed that he was an agent working for the Knights of Myth Drannor to make sure the area was safe (because Elminster had suspected that something important and/or powerful was in the area). She went to the gnome tinkerer and found out he had released the imprisoned wizard Sarthelius (who had been put in the wand by an evil Red Wizard of Thay at some point in the past). Together, they spent a day finding Fluter in the forest before coordinating with the rest of the group to take a trip to the Feywild (for a big wedding).

The group magically messaged with Glora so that she could also bring a group to the Feywild for both the wedding (of Blueblood III to Fluter) and to celebrate Glora’s birthday. Glora brought along Jamna, Jekk, Moonglamaer, Gael, and Thane. They all met up and had a good time. When Blueblood III met with Oran the Green Lord, he asked her to recruit Glora to come back into active service for him (and in exchange, Oran would grant her the request to turn her into a female satyr – a faun).

Blueblood III took Glora aside and privately explained the situation, which Glora was willing to go along with since she did want to please her patron; Oran’s request would require Glora to go infiltrate the Court of the Summer Fey and spy on the Summer Queen of the Fey who might be secretly using Verdant Princes and eladrin to steal people’s souls.

The wonderful wedding (with the transformation of Blueblood III as part of the ceremony) and the relaxing birthday festivities for Glora took place in the Feywild with everyone having a good time. The characters then returned to their proper destinations (with Glora planning for her departure from the Sword Coast).

Glantaghen offered the group a chance to officially work as agents of the Knights of Myth Drannor. Borngray II, Gabe, Blueblood III, Fluter, Karva, Sarthelius, and Rummi Sealeaf (the Gnome Ranger) met with the Theymarsh Sage and learned more about Thornia; the word Glora had noted from the Lamia’s exclamations was the name of the Ancient Overlord of Wrath/Kindness who was corrupted by Yeenoghu.

The ancient Thornian beliefs were seven ideals that were corrupted by demons (which caused their peaceful civilization to fall to chaos):
1 = Charity/Envy
2 = Temperance/Gluttony
3 = Generosity/Greed
4 = Love/Lust
5 = Humility/Pride
6 = Zeal/Sloth
7 = Kindness/Wrath (associated with Yeenoghu)
*The 7 “Thorns” circled around a central rose for the Thornian symbol; it’s possible the rose was supposed to hold another symbol/thorn/triangle within its layers.

1361: Knights of Theymarsh v. Gouzrak’s Lair
Sources: Rise of the Runelords Part 8
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 20
Borngray II, Gabe, Blueblood III, and Sarthelius went to Glantaghen. They discussed the Knights of Myth Drannor. They stopped by the Gnome Tinkerer’s shop. They went to the docks and arranged for the dwarf ship to leave the next morning to take them to Fort Ranger, where they hoped someone would lead them up the mountain path to the secret base of the Ancient Overlord of Wrath: Gouzrak.

They went to Mayor Feelgood, whom they convinced needed to make himself a king by joining forces with the goblin villages and declaring their territory a kingdom (this was all so Feelgood could then make them official Knights of Theymarsh). That night Fluter got Blueblood III pregnant.

At the Thirsty Dragon: Borngray II was approached by Gilha, a member of the Eldreth Veluuthra. Gilha revealed that Corellon had never allowed cleric abilities to be bestowed on a member of their organization (and thus he thinks Borngray II will herald in a new era for them because he assumed Borngray II was a part of the Eldreth Veluuthra). When Borngray II said he needed to go on a mission, Gilha revealed that he could only stick around for a few days and then he would be going back to the Ardeep Forest to their secret HQ with the portal they are guarding; he also mentioned the Floshin family.

The next morning, there was a gathering/ceremony in which Feelgood declared himself King of Theymarsh, Tallshield the mayor, the goblin chiefs mayors of their villages, Sealeaf the General, and the group (Borngray II, Blueblood III, Gabe, and Sarthelius) Knights of Theymarsh. The 4 of them joined with Karva and went to travel with the dwarves (who had a flying ship and said they were part of the Watchtower group associated with the Sapphire Circle and Meanderson).

The dwarves claimed Fort Ranger when they landed; it was from an old abandoned city (from the Spellplague). Only 1 ranger had survived and he quickly left when he saw the dwarves were there to take over and setup for their mining operation; before going, he warned the group about a horrifying wendigo and his “army of yeti” in the snow-covered mountains.

When the group went into the mountains, they found 3 ice nymphs, whom they befriended. The nymphs claimed the wendigo and the yeti army were all just illusions to keep them safe from the white dragon and the wizard. The nymphs showed them the abandoned giant’s keep. They stayed the night there.

The next day the nymphs showed them the abandoned ogre’s keep and then the dragon’s lair. They returned to the dwarves at Fort Ranger with the nymphs, where the dwarves agreed to go secure the keeps and to impregnate the Nymphs.

The group went back into the mountains, this time to fight something. They killed the Horror Tree with ranged weapons and then talked the white dragon into eating the wizard (from Ankhapur’s bell tower). They defeated the white dragon, went down into the lamia’s lair (which had drow stuff), captured the lamia (after she caved in their escape tunnel), and defaced the wall mural of Gouzrak (who had a triangle/thorn-shaped gem in his forehead, neat magic items, and a magic forge behind him). They rested until the next day. Their wizard discovered a drow teleport portal into an Underdark cavern, but they decided not to explore it yet.

Since they were trapped, they messaged Glantaghen with Borngray II’s spells. Glantaghen messaged them back, letting them know that the dwarves were slaughtered and he had to kill the wendigo and some yetis (which turned out to be real; the nymphs had betrayed them). He said he would hire a team of rangers to go into the mountains and try to find them. Another night passed.

Glantaghen messaged again about a snowstorm that was slowing down his team of rangers. He plane-shifted in and out to get them. They went back to Theymarsh and rested. Glantaghen interrogated the lamia/wiped her memory. He got lots of info from her: Cousin Feelgood had been magically charmed into helping the evil lamia sisters, drow houses have been summoning demons/found out about Thornia (so the group needed to figure out which Demon was associated with which Thornian symbol). They turned the lamia in, to the garrison, with Sheriff Gabe Borngray’s office. The group sold the loot and split up the profit.

1362: The Fey Knights joined the Eldreth Veluuthra
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 1
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 26
King Feelgood’s Cousin arrived with an official from Ankhapur. King Feelgood presented the evidence that the group collected last time, showing that Cousin Feelgood had been charmed by the evil lamia sisters and that was why he had committed his crimes. Ankhapur insisted he would still be exiled from their city, but no longer considered a criminal. Cousin Feelgood offered to use his merchant connections to setup a Theymarsh Mining Company to go occupy the keeps and begin the mining operations (as suggested by Blueblood III).

Sir Lord Sheriff Gabe Borngray decided to stay in Theymarsh. Borngray II & Blueblood III convinced King Feelgood to rename the kingdom Feymarsh (since that was the original intention long ago – thus making them Feymarsh Knights, a.k.a. The Fey Knights = TFK). Cousin Feelgood gave them 2 teleport scrolls. Blueblood III found some drunk bards to buy magic items from. They also tried shopping at the stores in the village and talking to the Gnome Tinkerer.

Borngray II, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, and Karva teleported to Fort Ranger at the ruins of Yeshpek. They buried the dead dwarves. Sarthelius used the scrying crystal orb to look in on the ice nymphs who charmed the gnome pilot of the Watchtower flying ship The Wanderer. The Ice Nymphs were going to fly over Waterdeep and crash the ship into Watchtower. The group teleported in and killed all of the ice nymphs, dispelled the charm effect on the gnome pilot, and saved the day. The gnome pilot took them to Watchtower after they calmed down the Griffin-riding guards.

At the Watchtower building, not only were the group members able to buy items at the store on the 1st floor, but they were also called up to a meeting with the secret new leader of Watchtower – Emerald (one of the 13 Radiant Sisters who served Malcanthet). Emerald explained that when Mordenkainen died Malcanthet decided to use that as an excuse to pretend to be Zuggtmoy and go take over her realm (spreading the rumor that Mordy’s death allowed the return of the Demon Queen of Fungi). Doing so allowed Malcanthet to rule over both her own domain and the former one of Zuggtmoy.

Unfortunately, Malcanthet was still undercover as Zuggtmoy when the drow summoned her to the Underdark and she was driven insane. Malcanthet now believed herself to be Zuggtmoy. The other 12 Radiant Sisters were running operations for Malcanthet, but they needed her granddaughter Blueblood III to go rescue her. They were hopeful that Borngray II’s cleric spells could cure Malcanthet’s insanity – but first the group would need to find her in the Underdark.

At first, Blueblood III rejected the quest, but then Sarthelius pointed out that a kiss from Emerald would increase her persuasive powers so Blueblood III accepted the kiss and magic items from the Radiant Sister. When the group went back downstairs, a contact from the Eldreth Valuuthra calling himself “Victorio” convinced them to go for a walk and meet him at his manor. Blueblood III also went and spoke with the Emerald Enclave group, hoping to get info about joining them.

Since Blueblood III was a faun/fey, the Eldreth Veluuthra did not mind her presence during the nighttime meeting; they accept the fey creatures as allies. They assembled about 50 members, including an arrogant elf lady and a servant of the druid lich Lossarwyn (who said his master would not be happy with these changes in the organization).

Borngray II used divine spells and the Eldreth Veluuthra decided that he was the “Chosen One to bring forth a new era for their people” because Corellon had never allowed any of their followers to use divine magic. Thinking themselves accepted by the great elf God Corellon, the group was susceptible to persuasion. Borngray II convinced them, with the help of the arrogant elf lady, that Corellon wanted them to give up their goal of killing off humanity and instead to fight the evil drow forces of Lolth.

Meanwhile, Blueblood III found a journal and scrolls in an office and secretly set the place on fire. The group decided to send Borngray II, Blueblood III, a volunteer elf wizard, and a volunteer elf fighter on an expedition into the Underdark. The group decided that if/when they returned that it would be the sign from Corellon that the entire Eldreth Veluuthra should go into the Underdark to fight the drow. They decided they would gather their forces and be ready for when the exploratory team returned. Borngray II was named the High Cleric of the Eldreth Veluuthra and Blueblood III was also given a title (as the Eldreth Veluuthra’s Ambassader to the Feywild). The servants noticed the fire and everyone evacuated.

The group rested up at a nice inn. In the morning they sent Sarthelius and Karva to go hire some Waterdeep elves to go back to Feymarsh/Theymarsh and work with Gabe.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 2, Day 27
The Eldreth Veluuthra sent Borngray II, Blueblood III, and their 2 new volunteers (Luerail (“Riddle-Hunter” the wizard and Ryel “Jade-Hawk” the fighter, brothers with the last name Nimsarro “Deep Quest-Walker”) through a portal – to a Drow slaver base in the Underdark (with the mission to prove themselves by finding their way back out of the Underdark and thus lend credence to the theory that Corellon wanted the Eldreth Veluuthra to end its racist manifesto of killing humans and, instead, war against the evil Drow followers of Lolth).

Emerald, the Radiant Sister of Malcanthet, still had a telepathic link with Blueblood III from when she kissed her on the previous day; they used that link to communicate and strategize a few times.

The group teleported into a drow slaver outpost called Velkynelve and had to jump out of a waterfall. They fought and killed: 15 drow guards, 2 elite drow, and 12 quaggoth (some of the quaggoth were convinced to leave and not fight). They then looted the place, rested for an hour, and freed the slaves. The high priestess of this outpost, Ilvara Mizzrym, was not there; they anticipated that she would try to come after them so they left a note making it sound like her junior priestess betrayed her.

The slave captives of Velkynelve included: Buppido (a derro); Prince Derendil (a hulking quaggoth who claimed to be the cursed elf prince Derendil of the Kingdom of Nelrindenvant in the High Forest); Eldeth Feldrun (a female dwarf scout from Gauntlgrym); Jimjar (a deep gnome rogue who liked to gamble/bet on everything); Ront (an orc from the Iceshield Tribe, shamed for losing a battle against the dwarves of Gauntlgrym); Sarith Kzekarit (a male drow murderer with red fungus spores); Shuushar the Awakened (a kuo-toa pacifist hermit who could lead the way to Darklake); Stool (a myconid sprout captured by Sarith Kzekarit, who used rapport spores to communicate telepathically and thus could translate with any creature and wanted to get back to his fungi home of Neverlight Grove); and Topsy & Turvy (twin deep gnomes).

After discussing options with the rescued slaves, the group decided to take the west passage for 8 days to head toward the Kuo-Toa village Sloobludop on Darklake – where they would have access to travel to many places in the Underdark. The goal would then be to travel 26 days to Neverlight Grove to investigate the Zuggtmoy situation. On the way…

Day 1: The group discovered that Topsy & Turvy were wererats and Borngray II was able to cure them of the curse.

Day 2: They encountered Skriss, a highly sophisticated troglodyte who was a member of the “Society of Brilliance” that was investigating the strangeness of the Faerzress (an unusual magical energy that pervades much of the Underdark). Skriss could teleport himself and up to 8 others so the group asked him to go ahead and take most of the rescued slaves to the Sloobludop. That brought the group down to just Borngray II, Blueblood III, the Nimsarro brothers, Stool (who had befriended Blueblood III), and Sarith.

Day 3: They found the lair of a Hook Horror couple that had been invaded by 12 Gnolls; Blueblood III sneaked around, tricked the monsters into fighting each other, and stole an egg; the egg hatched and imprinted Blueblood III as its mother.

Day 4: They stumbled upon the Silken Paths webbed chasm and 2 goblin guides: Yuk Yuk and Spiderbait. They paid the guides to get them through the area.

Day 5: The goblins told them about a secret ooze temple they could raid for treasure, but the group declined.

Day 6: The goblins told them about the Lost Tomb of Khaem, a mummified ancient Sorcerer, and offered to split the treasure with them. Again, the group declined because they were focused on their goal.

Day 7: The group rescued Fargas Rumblefoot, a halfling rogue who had been captured by large spiders. His adventuring party had been killed while looking for the legendary Lost Tomb of Khaem.

Day 8: Finally, the group arrived at the kuo-toa village of Sloobludop (population: 500) at the edge of the Darklake.

In Sloobludop the guards knew they were coming because Shuushar had told them to be expecting the group at about this time. Thus the guards brought them to the Archpriest of the Sea Mother named Ploopploopeen (a.k.a. Ploop), who revealed that he needed their help stopping his daughter’s cult that worshipped the Deep Father. His daughter’s cultists were about to make sacrifices and try to summon forth something; the Archpriest feared it was demonic in nature.

In the Underdark, at Sloobludop: The Fey Knights (Borngray II and Blueblood III) and their adventuring companions (Luerail and Ryel Nimsarro), along with Sarith Kzekarit (the insane Drow) and Stool (the Myconid child) met up with Ront the Orc (who had retrieved the sun blade Dawnbringer). They had accepted the Archpriest (of the Sea Mother) Ploop’s mission to disrupt his daughter’s cult of the Deep Father and their ritual.

Blueblood III led the charge when they saw a duergar being sacrificed. The Archpriestess of the Deep Father “Leemoogoogoon” claimed that he was more powerful than Corellon and Blueblood tried to challenge that assertion by saying, “Prove it.” Unfortunately, the cultists followed up on that by cutting the duerger’s throat and tossing him into the water to the vampiric ixitxachitl.

The group fought and killed the Archpriestess, her 4 kuo-toa whips, and her other 8 guards. Meanwhile, Demogorgon (“Loomoogoogoon” the Deep Father) rose up from the water and drove the drow insane. The rest of the group got on the boat to leave, with Ploop. Sadly, they felt powerless to stop Demogorgon, as they paddled away watching him destroy the village and kill most of its 500 citizens. Since Dawnbringer was a sentient sword of light, they convinced Ront to give it to Borngray II. They had a chance to rest for an hour while out on Darklake.

A group of winged kobolds (with Shiraz the druid, Lafayer the cleric) and Lizardfolk, with a half-dragon named Ranchefus waylaid the group. They brought them to their powerful green dragon master/mistress: Inzeldrin. She tasked the group with retaking her cavern keep and agreed to teleport them to Neverlight Grove once they killed or convinced the evil Thanatos cult to leave (and secured her treasure).

When Kuiper the lizardfolk ranger led the group to go defeat the Thanatos cult, he mentioned the tribe of Underdark orcs nearby. The group decided to go there first. Once they arrived and saw 30 orc warriors with 5 shaman ladies, and Chief Garundzer on his giant lizard mount – Blueblood III decided to challenge the leader to an honorable duel so she could take command of the orcs. She killed their leader and then, with Borngray II’s help in planning, decided to give control of the group to Ront.

While the group rested, Ront led the orc tribe to go ally with the cave trolls and defeat the grells who had enslaved the 40 orogs. The trolls died, but the grell were killed. Ront returned with the 35 surviving orogs. They reported that they had also stumbled upon, and killed, a rakshasa and an evil human wizard. Thus they had plenty of loot. Ront conspired with the group and decided to send the orogs up against the evil Thanatos cult.

More Orogs died before they retreated, but the group killed the zombies and skeletons guarding the keep. That left just the Thanatos priest, priestess, and their acolyte to fight the group. The group killed the priest and took the other 2 people hostage. They brought the prisoners to Inzeldrin the Green Dragon and returned control of her lair and treasure to her. She teleported the group to Neverlight Grove. There, they had Stool communicate with the Myconids and their spore-dominated monsters to get access to Zuggtmoy (who had been planning a wedding to a large sentient fungus).

Blueblood III convinced Zuggtmoy to allow Ploop to cast his powerful cleric spell to cure her insanity (by allowing her to make a telepathic link with him). At that point she ordered everyone out of the room except for Borngray II and Blueblood III. They had an important, blunt conversation. Blueblood III decided she might want to pledge her service to Malcanthet, had her remove the “kiss” from Emerald of the Radiant Sisters, and replace it with a kiss from Malcanthet.

They pondered the situation with the Underdark and the Demon Lords; Malcanthet realized Lolth was behind it all, wanting to take over the domains of the Demon Lords in the Abyss. She also scanned Blueblood III’s mind and found out they had been looking into the 7 Thorns of Ancient Thornia (and that Blueblood was pregnant). She told them about the Rose Stone and the Thorn Stones (which could be retrieved by killing Demogorgon and the other 7 powerful Demon Lords in the Abyss – recounting the explanation of how Orcus survived through a Thorn Stone that went into a Holic-Tron back when the Sapphire Circle killed him in the Abyss).

Malcanthet explained the connections with the Thorns and the Demon Lords:
Envy/Charity = Baphomet
Gluttony/Temperance = Juiblex
Lust/Love = Malcanthet
Sloth/Zeal = Fraz Urblu
Greed/Generosity = Grazzt
Wrath/Kindness = Yeenoghu
Pride/Humility = Orcus
with the “Rose Stone” leader = Demogorgon
Borngray II developed a theory that Demogorgon had corrupted the others and Malcanthet could be redeemed; she balked at the notion she needed redemption.

Malcanthet teleported the group (Borngray II, Blueblood III, the Nimsarro Brothers, and Ploop) to the Underdark stone giant library: Gravenhallow. She said she would wait outside while they sought answers to how the drow found out about and used the Ancient Thornia connection with the Demon Lords to expel them from the Abyss and trap them in the Underdark.

The librarians guided them to an “echo” of Elminster at the library. He told them about Menzoberranzan’s Archmage Gromph Baenre, who cast the demon-summoning spell; Gromph’s arch nemesis Vizerin DeVir should have info about how to defeat his foe, or at least how to get his journal/notes. Vizerin DeVir lived at a place called the Tower of Vengeance.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 3, Day 6
The group (Borngray II, Blueblood III with baby Clax, the Nimsarro Brothers, and Ploop – with Malcanthet outside) rested at the library. They spent time getting info from the library, learning more about Lolth, Gromph Baenre, and the summoning of Demogorgon to the Underdark. The Nimsarro Brothers taught Borngray II the secret code phrases and handshakes for the Vel’Nikeryma (the leadership council of the Eldreth Veluuthra).

Vizeran DeVir came to enter the library so the group greeted him at the door. He told them about his plan to gather ingredients to make a talisman to complete a ritual to bring the Demon Lords running loose in the Underdark back together. He offered to bring them back to his secret cavern/tower where they could have a temporary base of their operations.

Of course, Malcanthet was listening through Blueblood III, who, with Borngray II, discussed whether she should make a Warlock Pact with Malcanthet or Oran the Green Lord. Borngray II used a magic message to contact Oran the Green Lord, who told them to come visit the Feywild.

First the group went to DeVir’s tower and got detailed map info from his apprentice Grin; Grin explained that he wanted to return to Menzoberranzan one day (he had been exiled). The group responded that DeVir was trying to destroy the Drow city so Grin betrayed his master for the group, revealing that the talisman to attract the Demon Lords would not have to be put in Menzoberranzan to work correctly (as DeVir had claimed). The group was supposed to go to the Wormwrithings and the Labrynth in the Underdark to collect the components; instead, they convinced DeVir they had info about EEE.

Borngray II told DeVir that Ryali was now EEE. They convinced him to plane-shift them to the Feywild. He came along with them to visit with Oran the Green Lord. Blueblood III made a pact with Oran and gained access to the Feypatch so she could go have her twin baby boys there. While Borngray II, Ploop, Blueblood III, and Clax went to the Feypatch, DeVir took the Nimsarro Brothers back to Waterdeep and then returned to his tower.

While a month went by in the outside world, a year passed in the Feypatch. Blueblood III gave birth to twin boys: Ealduhn Thoron and Kailuhn Thoron. Clax grew up. Ploop taught Undercommon to Borngray II while Blueblood III learned Sylvan. They returned to Oran’s palace, leaving Clax where he wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone. Oran had his agents go get Fluter, who was shocked to see the babies had been born, but happy to be able to now stay in the Feywild to raise them. He also told them that a bunch of “skull and dagger Elves” were in Theymarsh.

Ploop, Borngray II, and Blueblood III went to Theymarsh; they found out that the Eldreth Veluuthra now owned the Bard’s Stage TaverInn. They returned to the Thirsty Dragon and questioned a group calling themselves the Blue Devil Gang (3 humans and 1 elf from the Ten Towns group that Blueblood II had authorized) that said there was a cleric of Ryali at Watchtower in Waterdeep (the “savior of the universe” and “reason we are all here today”). There was also some concern about pirate actvity going to a secret gambling base on the volcano ilsand with the vampiric halflings so they told the Blue Devil Gang to look into it for them.

The group united with Gabe, the Nimsarro Brothers, Sarthelius, and Karva. They had intel that Lossarwyn was nearby in Thornwood searching for the legendary Green-Thornblade so that he could claim it and prove himself more worthy as a leader in the Eldreth Veluuthra than Borngray II. Sarthelius scryed and found the location of their nemesis, who was there with 2 other elves. The group teleported there and fought them; they knocked out the 2 elf guards and killed Lossarwyn’s body (though he would be able to come back, since he was a Lich and they didn’t destroy his phylactery).

The group healed up the enemy Elves, took them to the hidden grove, and found 2 Green-Thornblades (1 shortsword and 1 longsword); Blueblood III took the shortsword and Gabe tried to take the longsword. Gabe was not worthy because of his racist view that non-elves were inferior. Borngray II was able to get the blade and explain to the others that they must end their racism.

1366: TFK v. Shadow Pearl Distributors

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 8
At Thornwood Forest, the group (Borngray II, Blueblood III, Gabe, Sarthelius, Karva, Ploop, the Nimsarro Brothers, and the 2 elves who were working with Lossarwyn) had rested in the grove. Borngray II and Blueblood III each attuned to their Green-Thornblades and had a vision from the Spirit of the Thornwood Forest (showing a Demogorgon shrine, an ancient Temple flooded out, and an Ancient Thornian Forge with Abyssal Shadow Pearls that posed a threat to the forest/world). There was some racist bickering back and forth.

The group decided to head to the Demogorgon shrine to investigate and remove the threat. On the way, they fought and killed 10 bullywug thugs with a mage on a crocodile. The group let the leader of this group survive, a green dragonborn rogue lady (who gave up her magic studded leather armor, magic rapier, magic rope, marilith-shaped earrings, sucubus necklace, and healing potions) because she gave them intel about the shrine, including the command word to shut down the 8 gargoyle guards.

Getting into the shrine, the group fought a hydra and a large water elemental. The enemies knocked out Gabe and the water elemental took him down the tunnel, stealing him away during the battle. The rest of the group eventually killed the hydra, but a dark naga also showed up that they had to kill. Ploop went to save Gabe, but was killed by 2 stone golems in the tunnels.

The group squared off against and killed the stone golems. They took Ploop’s dead body. By the time they got to the shrine, the Water Elemental and Gabe were already gone (through a secret passage), but the 2 hezrou demon guardians were there; the group killed them after finding out that Gabe was being brought to an Abyssal prison. They decided they needed to take a short rest after Karva destroyed the shrine.

Blueblood III scouted ahead, down the secret tunnel, and befriended a sahuagin rogue named Irgzid (who, unlike the rest of his group, was not a thrall of Demogorgon or mind-controlled by the aboleth). Irgzid helped the team plan to fight the aboleth and the sahuagin baron (who was a thrall of Demogorgon).

The battle was a success because the group distracted the aboleth long enough for Irgzid to drain water from the flooded area. The group killed the aboleth and the sahuagin baron, saving the other 10 sahuagin. The group needed a long rest, during which Oran the Green Lord – through the Warlock Pact – told Blueblood III that her mission right now was to rescue Glora’s son Gabe before Glora found out (since she was deep undercover and wasn’t supposed to be contacted/distracted right now).

Irgzid and his sahuagin brothers had info about the Yuan-Ti and demons working at the Ancient Thornian Forge creating and distributing the Abyssal Shadow Pearls. They told the group about Orloth (the 2-headed marilith demon with ape-like heads), Throgiff the tiefling leading the Yuan-Ti, Tyralandi the succubus (who had been seducing an evil paladin down there), and the cambion pirate captain who had been taking the Shadow Pearls back to the Abyss to be distributed on different worlds. Irgzid also arranged for a meeting with a Yuan-Ti, who provided some more info.

The group secretly met with Tyralandi the succubus (who usually referred to herself in the 3rd person). She was an arrogant follower of Malcanthet who was willing to help the group because Blueblood III was the granddaughter of Malcanthet. She agreed to try to seduce/distract Orloth with her harpies assisting her. She also told them about the Abyssal prisons that Gabe was brought to, using a Wakeportal stone. Malcanthet had a bard succubus agent at the prisons, named Lynnara. Borngray II, uninterested in personally following the lead of Iggwilv provided by the Succubus, convinced Tyralandi to let her send a magic message to Lynnara to setup a meeting to retrieve Gabe. Tyralandi gave the group a 1-time use Wakeportal stone.

They used the stone and went to the beach of the Abyssal Ocean at The Lost Islands Prison. Lynarra met with them and agreed to free Gabe, though she pointed out the prison also had: a death knight, a powerful glabrezu, a marilith, a bullywug lich, a fallen angel deva, a tiefling paladin, and other guardians. In response, Blueblood III told her to free all of the prisoners to incite chaos while she brought out Gabe.

Lynarra said she would go along with the plan. They convinced her that her new orders were to plane-shift them and Gabe back to Theymarsh and then go join Tyralandi in seducing Orloth – but ultimately to put together an army of Malcanthet supporters to assault Demogorgan’s base in the Abyss, the Gaping Maw so that Malcanthet would be able to take over as the ultimate ruler of the Abyss.

With Gabe rescued, the group ended this adventure when they returned to Theymarsh. Borngray II commented that they had plenty left on their “to do” list.

Sources: DDEX3 Hillsfar Series Part 1
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 10
The Fey Knights and their adventuring allies were at Theymarsh: Borngray II, Blueblood III, Gabe, Sarthelius, Karva, the Nimsarro Brothers (Luerail the Wizard & Ryel the Fighter), and the 2 Ruarad “Star Leaf” Cousins who used to work with with Lossarwyn (Tanes “Fox Heart” the Wizard & Simoth “North Gate” the Fighter).

Blueblood III convinced Borngray II to send a magic message to Emerald at Waterdeep’s Watchtower about the plan to assault the Gaping Maw and the involvement of Tyralandi and Lynnara. Borngray II cast Speak with Dead on Ploop to make sure he wanted to be reincarnated. Blueblood III had a special spell focus orb made with the symbol of Oran the Green Lord. They saw a sign from Glantaghen that he was “on vacation” and not home. They had General “Gnome Ranger” Sealeaf use a scroll to reincarnate Ploop (who came back as a rock gnome).

Borngray II conversed with the sage about Demon Lord connections to Ancient Thornia; he also told the Sage about the library in the Underdark (the sage decided to hire people to go there to get more info). The group met back up to plan at the Thirsty Dragon, where they decided to teleport to the Grinning Goat Tavern in Waterdeep. The Nimsarro brothers took the Ruarad cousins to the Eldreth Veluuthra to setup a meeting while the others sold their mundane loot.

The Fey Knights went to Watchtower and traded out magic items; they met with the eladrin cleric, the Lady of the Lady of Chaos, who said Vizeran DeVir had visited as per Borngray II’s previous suggestion; they also spoke about the universe (with her claiming that Ryali and Corellon’s alliance is what truly created “this universe” – alluding to Ryali having used the info from Meanderson to know how to establish the variables to create this reality “Ryali-T”) and the plan to take Demogorgon’s Gaping Maw; they decided that Ryali should be the one to take the Abyssal Crown when Demogorgon was killed.

Blueblood III and Borngray II went back and met with the Nimsarro Brothers to discuss the Eldreth Veluuthra’s leading council: The Vel’Nikeryma:
*Torynnar Rhaevaern the Archmage/Lich (who disliked Lossarwyn);
*Bhyrindar “Silverhart” Tellynnan the Werewolf Sorcerer (of the High Forest);
*Eldaerneth Spellstalker the Enchanter/Rogue (who infiltrated the Night Masks);
*Talindra Amalith the Wild Elf Barbarian Leader of Methwood and Chondalwood;
*Saeval Calaudra the Assassin (who wanted to eliminate Hillsfar).

The group rested for the night before going to Watchtower to pick up Blueblood III’s new armor and getting the dwarves to order a custom Gate Scroll big enough for “an ancient dragon” (which the merchants charged a lot of money for).

The group met with the Vel’Nikeryma to try to influence change with the organization; they discussed goals (1: negotiate with King Melandrach to release prisoners and stop arresting Eldreth Veluuthra officers; 2: assassinate or replace the leader of Hillsfar – instead of killing them all; 3: destroy Lossarwyn; 4: assault the Underdark).

Bluebloood III went to Emerald to setup an office on the 2nd floor of Watchtower and discuss plans, at which point Emerald said Malcanthet wanted to use the armies of Zuggtmoy and Juiblex to assault the Gaping Maw, but not her own forces. Borngray II got them an appointment with King Melandrach; they discussed the political situation in the High Forest, admitted to being in the Eldrarth Veluuthra, showed Borngray II’s divine powers, and convinced him to release the prisoners if they swore loyalty to Corellon and the new direction of the organization.

They teleported to the prison at the High Forest and met with the 12 prisoners, who were impressed by the Fey Knights and agreed to loyally serve Corellon; the Elves also said they were a special team serving Saeval who could go try to locate Lossarwyn’s phylactery for the group. Borngray II told them to get Saeval’s approval before taking action.

The Fey Knights returned to Watchtower, to Blueblood III’s new office with her dwarf assistant so they could get the collected intel about Hillsfar. They strategized. The next day Borngray II, Blueblood III, and the Nimsarro Brothers teleported to the outskirts of the forests near Hillsfar – where they found Lady Inneddra, who was concerned about the Fey’ri (Elves who consorted with Demons to gain powers); she had rescued a Tiefling boy named Pynroth from the nearby burned down farms. She took them to Zook the Yellow Faerie Dragon (who claimed to be a Chosen of Mielikki). Blueblood III agreed to adopt Pynroth and gave him the nickname Pins, saying he could grow up in the Feywild with her twin sons. They figured out that Graz’zt was in the Underdark underneath this area and had somehow corrupted the forest with his insanity.

Zook took the group to Deriel Rethslane, an Elf Scout who was the lover of the surface Drow Arizz (who had been taken by the evil Red Plume soldiers that worked for Hillsfar’s dictator: First Lord Torin Nomerthal). The group developed a plan to go into the city to speak with Guard Commandant Vuhm Yestral, a member of the Lord’s Alliance who wasn’t racist/xenophobic, to convince him to replace the dictator with approval from the local senate.

Blueblood III used an Alter Self Mask to appear as a human male slave owner while Borngray II and the Nimsaroo Brothers pretended to be his slaves. They went into Hillsfar, had a good meeting with Vuhm Yestral (who was in his 60’s, but still had a commanding presence), and then upset First Lord Torin Nomerthal by touring around his palace without permission. He had them kicked out.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 12
In Hillsfar, on the way to a tavern near the city gate, the Fey Knights (Borngray II, Blueblood III, and the Nimsarro Brothers) saw members of the Order of the Burning Dawn trying to get in the city (human Hommet Shaw with 2 dwarves, 1 halfling, and 1 moon elf). Only Hommet could get in so the others agreed to wait out near the burned farms. Hommet joined the group as they headed into the tavern. They got rooms and Blueblood III conversed with 2 interesting people drinking at a table (they later turned out to be an ultraloth and his arcanaloth guard).

Once the Fey Knights and Hommet were all upstairs, Red Plumes arrived demanding to arrest them for conspiring to assassinate First Lord Torin Nomerthal. Blueblood III tried to talk it out, but it ended up in a big fight against: 10 Red Plume guards, 3 Red Plume captains, 2 Red Plume wizards, 1 Red Plume archmage, the ultraloth, the arcanaloth, and the First Lord of Hillsfar; the group killed everyone except for 1 Red Plume guard.

They didn’t want any more fights with guards in the streets so they used the cellar to go down into sewers, where they came upon some scouts for the Hillsfar Thieves’ Guild who took them to their leader; after the group showed him the head of the First Lord, the master thief agreed to help the group get support from the Hillsfar Merchant’s Guild and convene the Hillsfar Senate the next day in order appoint a new city leader. One of the rogues showed them the way to the secret sewer tunnel under the castle (with the dungeons where Commandant Vuhm Yestral was being held. There, they killed the slaver half-orc sorcerer and his 6 Red Plume guards.

They rescued Yestral, who explained how he was caught/betrayed; his trusted drinking buddy was actually a spy for the First Lord. The group brought him back to the Thieves’ Guild HQ where they sent out messages to Yestral’s contacts, arranged for him to be appointed to power the next day, bathed, and rested out the night. The next morning the Hillsfar Senate met, appointed Yestral as the new First Lord, agreed to end the racist laws, outlaw slavery/free the slaves, and began plans for a peaceful way to replace the city leaders in the future.

The Fey Knights went outside with Hommet to get his adventuring group. They met the members of the Order of the Burning Dawn, arranged for them to help the freed slaves in Hillsfar (gave them 7,750 GP to help with that), and also discussed potential future team-ups with them. The Order of the Burning Dawn included: female elf Cleric Illydia Maethellyn, male gold dwarf rogue Larethar Gulgrin, female halfling ranger Bryn Lightfingers, female shield dwarf fighter Jarhild Stoneforge, and the wizard Hommet Shaw.

The group used a teleport scroll to go outside of Watchtower in Waterdeep. Inside they found 6 dead dwarves on the first floor with evidence they were killed by the drow priestess and assassins that were coming after The Fey Knights. Blueblood III ran upstairs to the top floor and found Emerald’s 2 guards dead, her door locked, with her inside – scared. Emerald said she was going to shut down Watchtower and Malcanthet could decide what to do with the building in the future. Borngray II realized the drow priestess and her assassins took the magic gear from the Dwarves.

Borngray II, Blueblood III, and the Nimsarro Brothers went to their Eldreth Veluuthra meeting; they debriefed from their Hillsfar success, discussed going after Lossarwyn at his grove (which had been located by the Elf prisoners they had freed from King Melandrach), and said their plan for sending their army into the Underdark was to divide into 5 units with each one led by 1 of the 5 Council members. As they dispersed, Talindra invited Borngray II to join her for the battles and Blueblood III gave the ultraloth claws to Torynnar Rhaevaern to have them turned into something useful.

Blueblood III needed to do something with her newly adopted tiefling boy Pins so she meditated to Oran the Green Lord. He sent a gnome with orange-red hair and leaf clothes who took Pins to be with Fluter and the twin babies. The group picked up Karva and Sarthelius (but not Ploop) to go help them fight Lossarwyn. They used a teleport scroll to get to the High Forest and searched around for the water fountain statue of an elf boy holding dolphins that marked the location of the secret grove. There, they spoke with 12 gnomes, 1 elf monk, and 1 elf mage. Blueblood III used the command word from Oran to end the mind control on them. The forest dwellers thanked them by getting rid of the reflective black ooze guardian to the underground entrance.

Borngray II, Blueblood III, the Nimsarro Brothers, Karva, and Sarthelius assaulted Lossarwyn’s lair, fighting and killing: Prince Jack (with the assistance of the witch ghost they freed), 1 Living Spellbook, 1 oni, 1 centaur, 1 werebear, and Lossarwyn (who kept turning into a T-Rex and healing himself until the 12 gnomes, the elf monk, and elf mage arrived as backup to help finish him off). After the battle, they found the phylactery in the lair and destroyed it. Blueblood III made a deal with the gnomes to let him have the grove as a place for his family to live and Borngray II agreed to bring the monk and mage back to the elves of the High Forest. They group rested.

Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 14
After resting with the elves of the High Forest, with Blueblood III meditating to Oran about where he wanted his family to move to, the Fey Knights (Borngray II, Blueblood III, Karva, Sarthelius, and the Nimsarro Brothers) went to Waterdeep. The Nimsarro Brothers, now both multi-classed as clerics of Corellon, went off to testify to the Vel’Nikeryma while the rest of the group found a note from Ploop letting them know he was at Watchtower with some vampires.

At Watchtower, they learned: (1) The Lady of the Lady of Chaos, her vampire servants, and their human minions had taken over the magic trade business there and (2) Ploop received a vision from the Sea Mother asking him to start a church on the surface world because Sloobludop’s survivors were already rescued from the mindflayers and aboleth by a drow wizard and Ront’s tribe of orcs (20 warriors & 3 shamans remained after also killing the green dragon and her followers).

Borngray II and Blueblood III went to the museum to meet up with the Vel’Nikeryma; on the way inside, they were stopped by the werewolf member “Silverheart” and two of his guards. He was upset about Lossarwyn’s destruction; he first tried to manipulate them by saying that he tricked Gabe into volunteering to lead his army but that his men were all around Gabe and that he would have Gabe killed if they didn’t do what he wanted. When that didn’t work, he challenged them to battle and lost.

They decided to let “Silverheart” live and carried his body upstairs to the rest of the council. They convinced the council to remove him, but he was still the cell/clan leader for the Eldreth Veluuthra of the High Forest. Through discussions, Borngray II ended up in a temporary council member position and they all decided their army would be better off in the Underdark if it stayed together as one fighting force. As Fey Ambassader, Blueblood III needed a cell/clan to lead in order to be a council member. They decided to wait two days, during which time the Fey Knights would be able to try to deal with the issue of the Demon Lords. Borngray II claimed the two guards as his new apprentices.

While the Nimsarro fighter (Ryel) accepted the Staff of Healing and went to recruit more people to their new cause, Borngray II and the Nimsarro wizard (Luerail) teleported to Theymarsh to check on Gabe, who claimed to be ok. Glantaghen helped confirm that Gabe wasn’t receiving magical sending messages, but wasn’t sure why. They suspected Silverheart was to blame because he had given Gabe a nice magic sword that he had attuned to. Luerail returned Borngray II to Waterdeep and then went to join his brother in making war preparations.

Blueblood III spoke with the angry Silverheart and tricked him into revealing the location of Turlang the Treant Lord’s grove in the High Forest/Dire Wood. Blueblood III had Sarthelius teleport him to go make a deal with Turlang so that Blueblood III would be officially in charge of the Fey of the High Forest (as a new, independent cell of the Eldreth Veluuthra), in exchange for the promise of protection from both Oran the Green Lord’s forces and King Melandrach’s army.

Borngray II and Blueblood III retrieved Sarthelius, Karva, and Ploop (who needed to adventure to raise money for the Church of the Sea Mother). They went as a group and spoke with King Melandrach to make sure he would protect the Fey of the High Forest; Borngray II also made sure King Melandrach would support the Eldreth Veluuthra once the organization had proven it was on a new course, truly serving Corellon.

Borngray II, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, Karva, Ploop, and the two apprentices teleported to Velkynvelve and killed the drow priestess with her mage and two elite warriors. They collected the loot (which included their custom Colossal-Sized Gate Spell Scroll) and then teleported to the caverns near Vizeran DeVir’s Tower of Vengeance. They spoke with Malcanthet/Zuggtmoy, getting the angel feathers and demon mushrooms from her.

Malcanthet wanted them to fight Juiblex, but they refused. They told her they planned to get the rest of the spell components, have DeVir do the ritual, get the Demon Lords together, trick them into going into the Abyss, and kill them there. She wasn’t happy about the order of the plan because she worried she wouldn’t have the ooze/slime Army at her disposal, but she relented to them.

1370: TFK v. The Wormwrithings
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 6
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 15
The Fey Knights (Borngray II, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, Karva, Ploop, and the 2 Elf Archers) were at the Tower of Vengeance speaking with Vizerin DeVir and his apprentice Grin. They planned their next steps, deciding to go to the Underdark’s Wormwrithings to get more of the components for the ritual to call together the Demon Lords.

Sarthelius used a teleport scroll to get them close to their goal. The group walked around until they encountered a troglodyte cave, where Blueblood III did some surveillance with his Ring of Invisibility. The group came up with a plan and tricked the 2 trog groups into fighting each other (by having Blueblood III cause stalactites to fall around them). The battle not only caused the Trogs to fight, but the noise also got the attention of a purple worm. The group held back and let the monster take out the trogs. One last trog champion managed to wound the purple worm a lot before getting eaten like the others.

The Fey Knights followed the purple worm back to its lair, where they engaged in a cinematic battle, with Blueblood III running up the Purple Worm and fighting it from above. A giant spider tried to help the worm, but the monsters lost. After the heroes won and took 2 of the purple worm eggs, the 2 elf Archers tried to burn the rest, and they found out a Fomorian Giant lived there with more giant spiders.

The group decided to let the giant and his pets live as they continued on their quest. Blueblood III made sure they eventually went back and retrieved parts of the purple worm’s carapace to have armor made for himself and Karva in the future.

For their next stop, the group took on the beholder Karazikar and his mage follower Shedrak. This led to another epic battle. The beholder was not only flying and shooting out 6 rays a round, but he also eventually backed himself into a corner so that almost everyone was in the area of his anti-magic zone. During the encounter: Ploop was petrified, Karva was put to sleep, the 2nd Archer was paralyzed, and the 1st Archer was telekinetically held up in the air. Borngray II de-petrified Ploop.

After defeating the Beholder and taking his central eye, the group freed his slaves (21 shield dwarves, 17 humans, 11 moon elves, 8 female drow, 1 male drow, 5 deep gnomes, 23 goblins, and 15 orogs) and looted the place. In addition to the normal slaves, they also found a crazy modron duodrone; Ploop used greater restoration to cure the insanity. The duodrone wanted them to go find “The Orderer,” which was some kind of anti-chaos machine in the Underdark’s Labryinth. Instead, they rested.

Sarthelius used another scroll to teleport them close to the Labryinth, where they walked around until they found an adamantine tower that Blueblood III explored. They decided not to fight the 4 gargoyles and 2 shadow demons there because they wanted to conserve resources. They found an entrance to a maze with piles of heads and a lame gnoll named Gash who wanted to help them. They asked Gash to go find them a goristro demon and bring him back because they needed the heart of a goristro as one of the ritual components.

When the group fought the goristro that arrived, the 2 archers almost died. Borngray II was able to heal them to keep them from bleeding out. The group killed the goristro and took his heart. Gash ran away. The group explored, following the duodrone; he led them to a group of 12 modron monodrones and 1 tridrone leader. They said they had gotten lost while on “The Great March.” The duodrone joined his people and they went off to find the Orderer: “We march and march and we march, march, march…”

The Fey Knights decided to use their last teleport scroll to return to The Tower of Vengeance. They gave the components to DeVir. Blueblood III and Borngray II went out into the secret cavern tunnels and asked the fungi there to get Zuggtmoy/Malcanthet to come to them. She arrived and they finally convinced her to give them a vial of her blood. They brought the vial to Vizerin, but wouldn’t tell them which Demon Lord it was from.

Borngray II did a magical sending message to the Eldreth Veluuthra army and asked them to stall for a couple days; they agreed to wait to see how the plan played out.

1371: TFK v. Lolth’s Chosen in Menzoberranzan
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 7
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 16
At Vizeran DeVir’s Tower of Vengeance, Borngray II & Blueblood III planned with Grin. They went and spoke with DeVir, who claimed to be the new Prophet of the Lady of Elemental Chaos. He also mentioned that crafting the Dark Heart Talisman for the ritual would take him 10 days. They decided to go ahead and travel to Menzoberranzan while he worked on the talisman even though DeVir wanted them to wait and bring the talisman with them to leave in Menzoberranzan (thus saving them from making 2 trips).

For their plan, Blueblood III used her new warlock abilities to impersonate a drow female and gave her cousin Borngray II the Mask of the Changeling to make himself look like a male drow. The rest of their group stayed behind at the Tower of Vengeance. Instead of taking DeVir’s secret tunnel, which would have taken at least 2-3 days, Borngray II & Blueblood III had Grin lead them to fast travel through more direct tunnels. They spent a day traveling. They encountered 2 drow patrols. The first group included 7 drow guards, 1 drow mage, and 6 quaggoths. When the guards questioned them about what house they were a part of, Grin named the newest house in the City – House Do”Rahel.

The second Drow patrol group they encountered was made up of 1 elite drow warrior with 8 guards who had been battling a hezrou demon. The group helped kill the hezrou and made their way to the outskirts of Menzoberranzan. The city guards questioned them, but accepted that they were long lost members of House Do’Rahel (that had lost their house symbols) looking for their family’s new home in the city. The guards claimed House Do’Rahel was allied with House Du’Orden.

The group explored the city, considered working with some Zuggtmoy-worshipping drow, befriended Zava of House Do’Rahel, and were invited to apply to join House Do’Rahel. They met with Do’Rahel’s leader, Mother Va’Zarbreena, and got accepted into the House. They rested while Grin went to check on the spies at the Tower of Sorcere. Grin reported back that House Baenre had blocked off the area they needed to get into with Gromph’s office. Luckily, Mother Va’Zarbreena wanted them to go speak with the Matron Mother of House Baenre to secretly deliver a scroll with info to take out the Cult of Chaos hiding in the city.

The next day, they went to the market and got advice from Grin. They sent Grin to hang out with the spies at the Tower of Sorcere. Blueblood III paid a bunch of money to a local merchant to have the gnome tinkerer slaves create a special statue of Lolth with a hidden compartment for the delivery of the secret scroll. That afternoon the statue was ready and they took it to their pre-supper appointment with Matron Mother Quenthel Baenre.

During their meeting, Quenthel Baenre cast a spell to see through their magical disguises because they had strange accents. She sent her guards and servants out of the room and explained that she was the Chosen of Lolth and she knew they were a surface elf and a satyr/faun. They talked and worked out a deal; Quenthel believed the old stories bards tell about surface elves having a special ability to find secret doors and explained that her brother Gromph Baenre had a hidden room somewhere, but they couldn’t find it – so she was willing to take the 2 of them to his office to work together to find the secret room with the evidence of Gromph’s crimes (the ritual book and his notes).

In Gromph’s office, Borngray II found the secret door and Quenthel approached it not knowing that there was a magical imprisonment trap on it that put her in a large diamond in the inner room. There was a strange “void barrier” once the door was opened, but they got past it, into the room. Borngray II put the imprisoned Chosen of Lolth in his bag of holding; they also took the ritual book and notes. They lied to the guards and quickly got out of there. Grin met up with them downstairs and Blueblood III used her Chosen of Zuggtmoy powers to fungus-port herself and Borngray II back to the tunnels near the Tower of Vengeance.

Blueblood III communicated with Malcanthet/Zuggtmoy through the fungus. Because they again refused to fight Juiblex for her, she said she would get someone else to do it, but she wanted the ooze/slime Army to join her fiend & fungus forces. Malcanthet said she would be ready in 8 days when they wanted to fight the Demon Lords and Demogorgon’s army at the Gaping Maw. Blueblood III also had Borngray II do magical sending to Mother Va’Zarbreena of House Do’Rahel to let her know that the Chosen of Lolth was gone and now would be the opportune time to strike to try to take over the city.

Borngray II magically sent messages back and forth with the Eldreth Veluuthra army, convincing them to pull back from the Underdark (which they had already entered during the last day), back to the surface world where it would be easier to scry on them and teleport to them. They spent the rest of the day resting at the Tower of Vengeance after giving the ritual book and notes to DeVir (who alluded to the possibility that Ryali/the Lady of Chaos may have been corrupted by Y the same way that Asmodeus had been long ago).

In the morning, DeVir teleported the Fey Knights to the Eldreth Veluuthra army and then he went back to working to prepare the Dark Heart Talisman and the ritual. The Vel’Nikeryma gave the Fey Knights some bad news: Gabe had led the charge into the Underdark and was killed – except that when he died he just turned into a puddle of water. They realized that “Gabe” had been a simulacrum and that they had never gotten the real Gabe back from the Abyssal Prison. Blueblood III felt horribly betrayed by Malcanthet/Zuggtomy.

During the next 8 days, the group took care of several items, including: Blueblood III got her Warlock familiar before going to spend time with her family, Borngray II made 2 scrolls, he also spoke with the Eldreth Veluuthra army to increase their morale, and they all geared up trading out loot/items. At some point, Grin met with the Fey Knights to discuss a plan to assassinate Vizeran after the archmage completes the ritual and is exhausted. Grin agreed to leak intel from Menzoberranzan (without realizing why).

Borngray II had Blueblood III use the sending stone with the Lady of the Lady of Chaos to find out her thoughts about them possibly killing Vizeran and the Lady of the Lady said to go for it – she viewed him as a false prophet.

1372: TFK v. Guardians of the Abyssal Prison
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 8, Savage Tide Part 2
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 26
At the forest entrance to the Underdark with the Eldreth Veluuthra Army: Borngray II, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, Karva, and Ploop discussed their strategies for summoning the Demon Lords and rescuing Gabe. After much discussion, they decided to get some more info. Borngray II met with the Vel’Nikeryma and found out they considered this a suicide mission – though they said the legends of Borngray II would be told by elven bards for generations to come.

Blueblood III communed with Oran the Green Lord, who agreed to send 5 centaurs to help them; she used a mushroom to send messages to Malcanthet/Zuggtmoy, at which point she learned that Juiblex had been plane-shifted back to the Abyss and destroyed. Thus at least one of the Thorn-gems was probably being housed back at the Palace of Shendilavri (where they were invited to go and have a gift basket while waiting for Malcanthet to return from her eventual victory).

The Fey Knights decided to plan the group to split into 3 parts: the 1st part would be Karva, Ront, and Ront’s drow wizard sidekick who would work with Grin to kill the exhausted Vizerin DeVir after the ritual (and then kill Grin); the 2nd part would be Ploop and the 5 centaurs trying to get Thorn-gems from the Demon Lords as they were killed by each other in the Abyss; the last group would be Borngray II, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, and a satyr fighter rescuing Gabe from the Abyssal Prisons.

As the events unfolded: the group geared up with magic items at Watchtower in Waterdeep, they picked up Ront and his sidekick (though Ront initially thought Blueblood III was back to make love to him – which never happened); they left the DeVir-assassinating group at the Tower of Vengeance (after lying to the archmage, saying that they were going to put the Dark Heart Talisman in Menzoberranzan and listening to him spout off about how he hoped to learn how to control the Faerzress in the future); they found a nearby cavern and placed the talisman in it; the Faerzress went all wonky as the Demon Lords appeared: Malcanthet as Zuggtmoy, Demogorgon, Baphomet, Fraz Urb’Luu (who was protecting Zuggtmoy), Graz’zt, Orcus, and Yeenoghu.

Seeing the Demon Lords caused insanity effects on the Fey Knights and their allies. Borngray II developed a desire to make someone “his” and started imagining a false reality in which Corellon was being attacked by Lolth and needed him to “plane-shift” through a puddle of water. Blueblood III thought one of the Centaurs was trying to kill her, she got angry easily, she thought her sending stone was biting her, and she thought that Oran the Green Lord was trapped in the rock by the Faerzress. Sarthelius was convinced that there were bats flying all about attacking him and 2 of the centaurs attacked each other (being delayed 2 rounds before joining the others by going through the portal). Borngray II used his Cleric spells to cure them (except for the effect on Blueblood III thinking that the Centaur was out to kill her).

With Ploop and the Centaurs engaged with the Demon Lord battle (where Demogorgon’s army was met by Malcanthet’s armies of fiends, fungi, and slimes/oozes – and where the Abyssal Shadow Pearls were exploded): Borngray II plane-shifted himself, Blueblood III, Sarthelius, and their new satyr fighter to the Abyssal Prison island.

On the island, they fought and killed: a marilith, a fallen Deva (Blueblood III convinced him to fly away and join the big battle), and a bullywug lich named Orgosh before going inside the prison. Inside, they fought and killed an evil tiefling paladin and a stone golem. They destroyed Orgosh’s phylactery and rescued Gabe. They rescued 3 devas who agreed to go join the large battle. They talked some more and rescued the last 2 prisoners (2 humans). Worn down, they had to accept that they wouldn’t be much help in the large battle and they plane-shifted back to Theymarsh.

1373: Demon Lord Battle Royale
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 9, Savage Tide Part 3
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 26
At the Tower of Vengeance, after Vizeran DeVir finished casting the ritual to use the Faerzress to summon forth the Demon Lords at the location of the Dark Heart Talisman: it was time for Ront, Karva, Grin, and Ront’s sidekick Jarbulanth the drow mage to enact their plan. They attacked DeVir, with Ront getting the first strike. DeVir immediately used the spell Power Word Kill to take out Jarbulanth.

DeVir’s death slaad “Kleve” and 6 nearby suits of animated armor came to his defense, with 3 more suits joining the battle each round (for a total of what would have been 24 if the battle had lasted long enough). After a few rounds, Karva killed DeVir. The death slaad killed Ront and Karva after the Suits of Animated Armor had already been attacking them. Grin grabbed the control gem for “Kleve” from the dead body of DeVir and the demon summoning/binding ritual book; he teleported himself and the death slaad out before the suits of animated armor had a chance to finish him off. Thus Grin gained control of “Kleve” and decided to rest up.

At the Demon Lord Battle Royale in the Abyss: the Fey Knights had seen Zuggtmoy/Malcanthet, Fraz Urb’Luu, Baphomet, Demogorgon, Graz’zt, Orcus, Baphomet, Ploop, and the 5 centaurs go through the gate portal before Sarthelius had closed it. The battle continued with Zuggtmoy and Fraz Urb’Luu teaming up against Grazzt and eventually killing him.

When Ploop collected the Thorn-gem from Grazzt’s dead body (and the 1st centaur collected the greatsword known as “Wave of Sorrow”), Zuggtmoy became angry and told Fraz Urb’Luu to target him and the Centaurs. Of Ploop’s forces: 3 of the Centaurs were killed off and 2 were able to help Ploop collect loot.

Meanwhile Orcus, Baphomet, and Yeenoghu had all been attacking Demogorgon. Belaphoss came to defend his 2-headed boss, but that was not enough. Yeenoghu got the final blow killing Demogorgon. Both Ryali-T (the Lady of Chaos) and the surprise villain, the goddess Shar, appeared out of the darkness to claim the Abyssal Crown; Ryali won initiative and became the new leader of the Abyss.

Ploop’s centaur grabbed the Rose-Thorn-gem. Belaphoss killed Orcus. Zuggtmoy killed Belaphoss and took his powerful weapon (the flaming greataxe combo lightning whip). Ploop grabbed the Wand of Orcus as the 1st centaur grabbed the Thorn-gem from the dead body of the Prince of Undeath. Fraz Urb’Luu and Zuggtmoy teamed up against Ploop, making him fall unconscious bleeding to death. The 2nd centaur used a healing potion to bring Ploop back to consciousness, at which point they realized they needed to plane-shift out to Theymarsh in order to survive.

In Theymarsh: Ploop took the Wand of Orcus, the Rose-Thorn-gem of Demogorgon, and the Thorn-gems of Graz’zt and Orcus. He ran off into the woods yelling: “I don’t trust any of you! Don’t touch my things!” The centaurs asked some guards where they should wait to meet up with the Fey Knights and they were directed to the Thirsty Dragon TaverInn.

Back in the Abyss: the battle continued with Zuggtmoy, Fraz Urb’Luu, and Yeenoghu all teaming up against Baphomet. Zuggtmoy got the killing blow against Baphomet, took his Thorn-gem, and gave his glaive Heartcleaver to Fraz Urb’Luu. The pair teamed up against Yeenoghu, who killed Fraz Urb’Luu. Zuggtmoy took the Thorn-gem but Yeenoghu ended up with Heartcleaver. At that point Demodragon was firing down breath weapons and Malcanthet/Zuggtmoy didn’t like taking hits from Yeenoghu so she teleported away, back to a protected position within her army of Fiends.

Yeenoghu also used his teleport ability to gain a more tactical position, where he convinced some of Demogorgon’s former demons to protect him in exchange for Heartcleaver. The huge battle raged on with Malcanthet’s forces using the Abyssal Shadow Pearls as huge explosions to decimate much of Demogorgon’s forces. Ryali was able to contain the explosions so they didn’t do too much damage. Eventually, Yeenoghu accepted that this wasn’t his battle to win and tasked one of the marilith sorcerers to plane-shift him (and the goristro demon who ended up with Heartcleaver) away so that he could gather his army and make plans for a future assault.

Malcanthet’s bard succubus Lynnara reported to her that Gabe and the other prisoners had been freed from the Abyssal Prisons. Malcanthet realized she had done all she could on this day and ordered her fiends and fungi forces to retreat from the battlefield while the slimes/oozes continued fighting the Demons to save the forces that were leaving. Even though Malcanthet didn’t end up ruling the Abyss, she had ended up with the Thorn-gems of Juiblex, Baphomet, Fraz Urb’Luu, and herself (of course).

1374: TFK v. Ploop: Round 1
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 10, Second Darkness Part 1
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 27
In Theymarsh: the Fey Knights (Borngray II, Blueblood III, the forest sprite, Sarthelius, and Gabe) had rested after the big battle last time; they were debriefed by the 2 centaurs in the stables of the Thirsty Dragon TaverInn. They went to General Sealeaf for help locating Ploop in the nearby forest, who said Ploop had killed a few goblins at a recently raided ogre cave and raised the ogres as undead minions. Sealeaf gave them a copy of a detailed map of the coast and forest.

Before leaving town, the group went to a Halruaan ship that was in the port selling magic items. They bought teleport scrolls and suggested the wizard speak with the local sage. Sarthelius teleported the group to Watchtower in Waterdeep, where the Lady of the Lady of Chaos debriefed them more about the Demon Lord Battle Royale – at which point they learned about Shar’s involvement, Ryali-T’s victory, and that the survivors (Malcanthet/Zuggtomy and Yeenoghu) had both escaped.

They also learned that they were entitled to a special reward from the Lady of the Lady (up to 200,000 gp each or a magic item or a favor – such as a team of Chaos Agents going to take care of something for them). The Lady of the Lady realized they were being scryed upon by someone. They decided to wait and think about possible future rewards.

Sarthelius used a scroll to teleported them outside of Ploop’s new waterfall ogre cave, where they attempted to negotiate with him. They ended up having to destroy his 5 ogre zombies and 3 goblin zombies. They took the Wand of Orcus from him, but he plane-shifted out. A huge shadow had grown out of the sky over the volcano island and stretched out to the coast. With it came a halfling vampire with his 4 werebat minions and 4 gricks. The group had to kill all of them as well. A huge “space rock” crashed down on the volcano island, causing the ground to shake on the coast and a huge tidal wave to hit the edge of the forest.

Ploop magic messaged them a deal to trade the Wand of Orcus for the 3 Thorn-gems he had. Ploop sent the Thorn-gems with 1 vampire druid, 1 monster plant, and 6 displacer beasts. The group killed all of the minions, Blueblood III took the stones, and the vampire druid flew away (back toward the volcano island). The other vampire had left behind a journal that revealed information about the Cult of Orcus that had been living underground at the island (with an old vampire sage who supposedly knows something about harnessing power from the Thorn-gems).

Since the Wand of Orcus and the Thorn-stones were all together in a bag of holding, the sentient evil Wand of Orcus was able to somehow manifest power from the Thorn-gems to call forth darkness and destroy the bag of holding. That caused the group to realize they needed to split up the items. Thus Borngray II ended up with the Wand of Orcus in a special bag of holding just for it. Blueblood III came up with a plan to keep the Thorn-gems on his sprite familiar since she would be able to plane-shift out to the Astral plane at anytime to keep the Thorn-gems from being taken.

Borngray II, Gabe, Blueblood III, the sprite, and Sarthelius teleported to the Eldrath Veluuthra army to rest. They found out Silverheart had taken the Evermeet branch of the army down into the tunnels and most of them were killed by an army of undead mindflayers with an elder brain. Talindra had to save the remaining forces by collapsing the tunnels and organizing a retreat.

During the rest: Grin sent them a magic sending message letting them know he was aware that they had betrayed him and that he was now in Menzoberranzan helping organize a defense of the city; thus he must have been scrying on them or having another drow scry on them (though that fact didn’t rule out the possibility that Malcanthet was also scrying on them). Grin let them know that Karva and Ront were both dead, as well as Vizeran DeVir.

After the group rested, Borngray II and Blueblood III attended a Vel’Nikeryma meeting in which they decided it was time to execute Silverheart. They also decided their new entry point to the Underdark should be the duerger city Gracklstugh (which their intel said was led by a red dragon, rested on Darklake, and had tunnels that lead deeper into the Underdark). Borngray II watched Saeval and his team of 12 elf assassins kill Silverheart. Saeval offered to go with the Fey Knights to Gracklstugh to negotiate with the red dragon to allow their army to use the city as a launching point for their war.

Sarthelius teleported the team to Watchtower, where they again spoke with the Lady of the Lady. She gave Sarthelius an Amulet of Proof Against Detection, which he allowed Blueblood III to borrow because they realized someone was scrying specifically on her. The Lady of the Lady offered to put together more info about Anarchocles (the hero from ancient times who once defeated Orcus, was then killed by Orcus, whose skull was part of the Wand of Orcus, and whose soul was imprisoned in an item somewhere in Orcus’ old lair in the Abyss; the Wand of Orcus could only be destroyed by Anarchocles himself). They also traded out other loot/items with the shop there.

1375: TFK turned into Drow
Sources: Rage of Demons Out of the Abyss Part 11, Second Darkness Part 2
Setting: Kalibruhn-Toril – Year 1498 DR, Month 4, Day 28
From Waterdeep, the Fey Knights (Borngray II, Blueblood III, the sprite familiar, Gabe, and Sarthelius) returned to the Eldreth Velluthra army’s temporary forest base. A bard greeted them and gave his condolences on the loss of most members of Borngray’s family, emphasizing what a great man grandfather Borngray had been. The bard promised to tell them more about the Borngray legacy in the future, when they had more time, but went ahead and gave them more info about Gracklstugh and its red dragon, the Wyrmsmith.

They picked up the assassin Saeval, who wanted to bring 6 of his men with them. They only allowed him to bring 1 of them as a personal bodyguard. Sarthelius teleported them near Gracklstugh, where they approached the guarded gates from an underground tunnel. They explained that they were emissaries who had come to speak with the Wyrmsmith.

In talking with the red dragon Themberchaud and the Keepers of the Flame (whose leader was a psionicst cleric named Gartokkar Xundorn), the group realized that the dragon was a puppet leader who was being used to light the flames to make the famous metal-smithing forges of Gracklstugh work – providing wealth and warmth for the city – but that the city had a duergar deepking who was really in charge and they planned to replace the dragon before he became too powerful. Saeval and his assistant took on a side mission to retrieve a stolen red dragon egg from the Grey Ghost (a troubling insane derro).

Deepking Horgar Steelshadow V granted the group an audience, but they realized the Faerzress had caused him to go insane (desiring only pleasure) and his new “queen” was a succubus in disguise. To find that out, they had to create an awkward situation in a sideroom in which Blueblood III was pretend-offering to have sex with him and waiting for her cousin to come in to cast the cleric spell to cure the insanity.

The Fey Knights managed to work an agreement with the duergar to allow the Eldreth Veluuthra army transport through the city and for the Gracklstugh army to send 50% of its people to help conquer Menzoberranzan; the Eldreth Veluuthra paid 500,000 gp and promised to allow the duergar to keep Menzoberranzan after the battle. When Borngray II and Blueblood III discussed the deal with the rest of the leadership council, they argued about what they should be doing with the army since the wild elves led by Talindra were growing restless, but they decided to stick with the plan and allow the wild elves to be at the front of the battle once they started going through the underdark tunnels; they estimated it would end up taking 1-2 months for the army to get to Menzoberranzan.

The Fey Knights and Saeval were selected to lead a team to go in first, get the demon-summoning book (which also had info about Shar and the Faezress), and assassinate Grin. To accomplish that, the group realized magical illusions would not conceal them all so they came up with the idea of asking Corellon to turn them into drow (changing some of their biological sexes – with Blueblood III arranging for Oran the Green Lord to hopefully de-drow them afterword in exchange for a quest being completed for him). The sprite came up with unseelie names for them all so they could pretend they had been slaves of the dark fey: Blueblood III was Fallenleaf (male), Borngray II was Roperslayer (female), Gabe was Oozie (male), Saeval was Spiderheart (male), and Sarthelius was Missiler (female).

Sarthelius teleported them to tunnels near Menzoberranzan. They encountered a strange drow woman who was escaping the city, who cautioned them to all go with her to the surface because it was too dangerous to stay. They made their way to the guards and asked for escort to the new ruling house of the city – House Do’Rahel (where Va’Zarbreena ruled as the matron mother, Grin was the new archmage, and they had an army of bugbears guarding the family house). The team used persuasion to become provisional members of the house by offering to work for them.

Missiler and Fallenleaf tried to become apprentices to Grin, which led to him bringing the group into his own pocket dimension for him to show off his inter-planar scrying orb (which the sprite stole while Missiler revealed her cleavage to distract the archmage). Grin became upset, told Fallenleaf that he wouldn’t be allowed to apprentice (though Missiler would).

Grin said the group could make up for the strange situation by doing a secret mission for him. He teleported them to the tunnel outside of the cavern with the Tower of Vengeace, told them about the dead people and loot inside for them to retrieve, and about the secret tunnel that would take them about 2-3 days to use to return to Menzoberranzan. After he left, the mushroom in the cavern tried to telepathic communicate with the group, realized Fallenleaf was Blueblood III, and offered to contact Zuggtmoy. Fallenleaf killed the mushroom and the group prepared to open the secret wall/door to enter the cavern… (with the plan to hopefully destroy the suits of animated armor, return to Menzoberranzan, kill Grin, and move on).
