Logs 571-600: Justice League Epic Level

JFP Campaign: D&D 3.5E Epic Level Justice League!
JFP brought us back together to play the Justice League characters at epic level - me as Merry, NH as PM, KG as DL, MW as TR (and his grandson for most of the time), LV as Daggin, BG as a new character LS, and CF as a new dwarf character.

In JFP's version of Toril the Spellplague didn't happen (because this was pre-4E existing). JFP gave us a 2-page write up of how the world had changed in the 50 years since our characters had retired. TR and PM's keep had a fighter school, a temple to Tyr, a druid grove, and a bard school. During retirement, Merry had built up a corporate empire with 20 ships, 2 book factories/shops, 6 inns with taverns, and 10 general stores, and 5 magic shops - earning about 5,150 gp in profit each month.

*DL, TR/PM, and Merry all had seats on the Sembian council. They attended a meeting and went to visit with Daggin, who had been making magic items. TR died of old age. Merry comforted PM for the loss of her husband. The team's enemy leprechaun attended the funeral. Merry and PM were trying to help Daggin de-lichify himself, but the high cleric of Tyr refused to help. T3 (TR & PM's grandson) was adventuring age and joined the group. LS told the group about a monster in Calimport.
*The team escaped from assassins that came after them.
*The group battled magical constructs (mithril golems).
*Magebane guys attacked the group.
*The group had more battles with golems. Magic loot. LS died, but the group resurrected her. T3 got trapped in another plane, but Daggin got him back.
*The group visited Kelsarin's new school, which he was calling Netheril.
*Urmai visited. The team went to Everesca, found out about Evermeet.
*Merry and LS were getting very friendly with each other. The group fought Mulmaster guards.
*T3 ended up with TR's soul in his sword.
*The group was trying to destroy Daggin's super evil book. They met with a man from Thay.
*The evil book was stolen when the group was at Zhentil Keep.
*Red wizards of Thay attacked.
*[I was absent from a session in which I assume Daggin was killed off - though he did return later.]
*[LV made a new character: Alex, a human mystic thurge] Alex joined the group as they investigated in They and Amn.
*Emdar (Vampire servant of Jergal) showed up and asked the group to kill an evil king on an island in the Shining Sea. The group went there and successfully completed the mission.
*The group found out Szass Tam, the evil archlich of the red wizards of Thay, had the super powerful evil book. The group battled Szass Tam for the book, but he collapsed the building on them as they were taking the book.
*The team regrouped and tried to figure out how to destroy the book. Urmai and Emdar both visited.
*[BG was playing a "Magebane girl" at this point] The group met up and fought undead that were invading the dales.
*The team gave the evil book to Emdar and went to Anaurach to investigate more. Merry tried flirting with Emdar, which annoyed him and caused him to put Merry under vampiric charm to make him stop. Merry talked with PM about being lonely, but she didn't want to get back together.
*The group fought enemies at Mulmaster and got magic items.
*Daggin was back. The group was fighting amongst itself. Merry and PM argued. T3 and Daggin battled over a sword. There was a mission to go to the mountains of Anarauch, to a temple of the sun god.
*[AJ joined as Luke] The team battled a powerful red dragon.
*When the team was about to enter into the final enemy's lair, a woman showed up who was the adult child of Merry and PM (created by magic since they never actually had a child); she wouldn't have been safe in the final battles of the campaign so Merry said he needed to take her back to the keep for protection. The rest of the group wanted to press forward. Thus Merry left the group behind to protect his daughter and get to know her back at the keep.
*Without Merry, the rest of the Justice League went in for the final battles; they defeated their enemies, but in the end the gods of the Forgotten Realms told them that they were too powerful for Toril and exiled them from the world. They were sent to spend time with the gods. Thus Merry was left behind to run the keep and take care of things while his friends were on in the celestial realms (or wherever).
